Why should you focus on social skills? History has been the documentation of stories that all teach us something. Capitalism runs on numbers, but its soul lies in stories. The world analyses numbers, sure, to inform quantitative results but the fundamental human need always lies in emotions. Learning to connect the dots is a critical part of hearing the music. Very honoured to have been part of TiE Atlanta screening committee with support from The Roberto C. Goizueta Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation.; and Brian Cayce, Olivia Sedlack. Oh and a huge shoutout to Bill Nussey (Third guy from the left, third picture in the unimodal picture upload [LinkedIn pls fix it!]) for being a rockstar VA Hall of fame Alumni. My favorite boss till date! One of the rare guys who's a Partner with Engage, headed IBM Strategy for a significant period, launched his own startup's IPO during the dot com bubble, Harvard MBA for whom it matters, gentle soul, tech genius, fellow CleanTech nerd and advocate, incredibly smart, and an even more incredible storyteller. If there was one advice from my experience in an elite business school, without having a Billion dollar Net worth or being an 10M impressions LinkedIn Influencer, yet, so take it or leave it, would be to find the balance between being annoyingly analytical and being someone who primarily uses emotions to inform your leadership choices and influence teammates. And being a leader will always need you to live a story. To deliver business essence in a box full of chocolates! So grateful to have had this opportunity to be part of Venture Atlanta Conference 2024 and learn so much in such a short time!

Had the honor of attending the 6th annual Siggie Awards last night with TiE Atlanta. The Siggies, named after the one and only Sig Mosley, celebrate Atlanta’s often unsung hero’s who do so much for startups in the Atlanta Ecosystem, Angel Investors! It is truly inspiring being in the room with so many amazing people dedicated to building the Atlanta Ecosystem and making it the place to be for tech!

This is how you build a city-sized network! ?? Last night's Siggie Awards event was a total success. ?? People from all around the Atlanta entrepreneurship scene gathered to celebrate Sig Mosley & the work he's done for our startup community. Too many pics for a single post (more to come!), but worth noting how much of the dialogue & celebration centered around community-building & relationships. This was especially clear in the talks given by Sanket P. and Sid Mookerji. The money is the part that gets the most headlines... ?? But it's the long-term patience, collaboration, humility, & communal support that are similarly critical to the lifeblood of an entrepreneurial ecosystem. ?? Precisely the reason I spend so much time mentoring founders on how to scale long-term networks. ?? The 2024 Siggie Awards event last night was the place to be and a standing room only event! The purpose is to honor those who make a difference in Atlanta’s thriving start up scene. It was a wonderful night of networking with investors, founders, and ecosystem representatives. I really enjoyed Sid Mookerji’s keynote. It was so inspirational to hear his story as an immigrant from India who built and exited a very successful business and now is giving back and helping entrepreneurs through his VC fund. Sid’s 5 takeaways: 1. Set a goal. It shouldn’t always be related to money. 2. Always journey on the road less travelled. 3. An entrepreneur’s success is non-linear. 4. Focus on balance- life is a race. 5. Integrity is a non-negotiable. On a side note- I enjoyed being in charge of sourcing the “merch” for the event. See the hoodies in the reel ??.
