Our Student Advisory Council recently came together for a productive planning session for the upcoming 2025 Hampton Roads Teen Leadership Conference! They provided valuable insights on the content, timeline, activities, and even weighed in on materials and budget decisions. Making our Student Advisory Council an organizational priority not only strengthens the conference but also provides our student alumni the opportunity to develop their leadership skills in a meaningful, hands-on way. We’re excited to see their ideas come to life this summer!?

Congratulations to Austin Stephens, a member of our Student Advisory Council, on being selected as a semifinalist for Military Child of the Year! Thank you for your support of and advocacy for military-connected teens. You're making us proud!?
???? Sound the trumpets and cue the spotlight because Operation Homefront is announcing 105 semifinalists for the 2025 Military Child of the Year? Award! This year, we broke records with over 900 extraordinary nominations from across the globe. For 17 years, this program has celebrated the remarkable achievements, character, and contribution of military children. Finalists for the 2025 Military Child of the Year Award will be selected in February by a panel of independent, volunteer judges. The final seven award recipients—one representing each branch of the military—will be announced in March. Each will receive $10,000, a laptop computer, and other donated gifts at a gala held in their honor in Washington, D.C., on April 10. Ryan has a passion for environmental stewardship - he is a member of Virginia Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts's Youth Conservation Leadership Institute, volunteers as an oyster gardener with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, and won the 2023 Young Leader Showcase for his work with Elizabeth River Project's Youth Water Quality Monitoring project. He has also served as a patrol leader with Boy Scouts of America and actively volunteers with Youth Volunteer Corps of Hampton Roads, including attending the Youth Volunteer Corps 2024 Summit!
