  • I literally cannot believe it’s almost here. So much work has gone on behind the scenes to make sure this is the most awarded scholarship cycle in the history of my organization. I never thought we’d be giving out $10,000 scholarships. God is so good. Get your applications in y’all! Also NO extensions this year! No exceptions. Don’t email or DM us. Those apps WILL lock at 11:59PM Thursday night ladies.

  • FACTS ABOUT THE SAVE ACT. If this legislation is signed into law: 1. Active duty service members would not be able to vote due to the bill’s requirements and mandates threatening online voter registration and mail-in ballots. In 2022, more than seven million Americans registered to vote by mail, and almost 11 million Americans registered to vote online 2. The SAVE Act requires you to provide documentation many Americans do not have. The verbiage in the bill does not allow for name change documents, military IDs, tribal IDs, marriage certificates, and more to quantify the identity of a person as none of these list the person’s place of birth or citizenship. HALF OF ALL AMERICANS (150 MILLION PEOPLE) DO NOT HAVE A PASSPORT, which would satisfy this and they are costly and time-consuming to obtain. Even RealIDs, which Louisiana citizens were forced to get, do not suffice as they do not indicate citizenship. Only FIVE STATES (Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Vermont, & Washington) have what is called EDL IDs which indicate citizenship and would suffice at the polls. 3. The SAVE Act would mandate frequent and illegal voter purges of registered voters based on faulty data when there is no proof that non-citizens are voting and there are already laws in place and documentation mandates to keep them from voting. Married women who changed their last names, our troops, the tribes, the poor, etc. would not be able to vote. This is a fascist attack on our voting system. It’s not even new. During Jim Crow apartheid, white people invented poll taxes and they were placed on Black Americans (and eventually outlawed) as a way to make it too expensive to vote. Contact your Senators. This is REAL y’all. Whether you are married or not, your rights, the rights of your daughters, sisters, neighbors, friends, are ALL at risk. Do something.

  • During a presidential town hall, RFK Jr. said he would be creating “wellness farms” to send primarily Black children and adults to in order to “organic farm” for “3-4 years” in order to ween them off opioids, Adderall, and antidepressants. There is no evidence of the claims he is making about over-prescription of medication to Black children and adults. He is talking about creating work camps for Black Americans. • This is the return of Jim Crow. My mentor at work texted me before I could even process the news myself. My boss keeps saying to be calm. I can’t believe anyone would think this is not going to lead to companies not hiring marginalized people & women. You cannot legally threaten private companies with CRIMINAL CHARGES for hiring marginalized groups. Disabled people, Black people, Latino people, veterans, women, etc. “Diversity, equity, and inclusion” is corporate speak for so many LAWS that were hard fought to protect EVERYONE. This will not stop at one or two companies. This is PRECEDENT setting. Link to article below: https://lnkd.in/g-M_qgbR
