Your phone battery has to be charged every day. The Thrive EVO is also wireless, but the battery can last over a year. How? The EVO has high and low power modes. During low power mode, the Receiver enters into "hibernation," where it only wakes up every so often to see if there is a status change. Because we don't want users to have lengthy delays while setting up the EVO, high power mode is initiated as soon as either 1) the Receiver is first powered on, or 2) a station is actuated. It lasts long enough to allow the user to test stations without having to wait five minutes every time they test it. Like signal strength, you can gauge the battery level of the Receiver by looking at Transmitter by the controller, without needing to battle valve box spiders. ???

We market our Thrive EVO as having a wireless range of 200 yards "through obstructions," as it can reach up to a mile straight-shot. So how did we decide 200 yards? Lots of testing. We tested in football stadiums, neighborhoods, apartment complexes, etc., moving the Receiver increasingly farther from the Transmitter. There were no instances in all these cases where connection was lost below 200 yards. And to help with cases where you want to stretch the limits, we've placed a LED indicator on the Transmitter that displays signal strength. So if you ever find an instance where it doesn't connect below the 200-yard mark, steak dinner on us. ?? ??

Why do we use LoRa? Every wireless protocol has its pros and cons. Our Thrive EVOs are installed in landscapes with hills, trees, buildings, parking garages... you name it. We need a protocol that has: - Long range - Low battery consumption - Plans without subscriptions LoRa is the only wireless protocol that can check all of these boxes. The downside of LoRa is that you can't send much information quickly, which is fine for us when the only data being transferred is "on" and "off" command. LoRa is a relatively new wireless protocol, but is gaining popularity as it becomes more robust and reliable. We work with top industry experts to ensure we deliver world class LoRa solutions to our customers.
