Thrive International was conceived in late 2021 by a diverse group of innovators who share a vision for thriving multicultural communities. Some were born only a few miles from where they live now, others have circled the globe and lived in multiple countries; all have experienced the power of cross-cultural relationships to transform them as individuals and to enrich their communities.
We are based in Spokane, WA and are focusing our initial programs on empowering communities in Eastern Washington and North Idaho. At the same time we recognize that barriers to thriving span borders, so Thrive International is also involved in efforts to empower immigrants and citizens in other communities in the US and internationally through collaboration in a network of trusted partners.

?? America's population is set to shrink after 2080 - and there's only one thing preventing it from happening sooner: immigration. ?? As Professor Justin Gest points out in his recent CNN opinion piece, the US Census Bureau's projections show that without a steady influx of immigrants, our nation would start to shrink as early as next year. ?? It's time to recognize the immense value that refugees bring to our country through the US Refugee Admissions Program (USRAP). These individuals undergo a rigorous vetting process, including 14 background checks, to start a new life here and contribute to our society. ?? But it's not just about population numbers. As Gest's research suggests, informing people about the realities of demographic aging can persuade them to open their minds about immigration. It's a matter of "replenishing" our nation, not "replacing" it. ?? However, welcoming refugees is only half the battle. We must also invest in affordable housing to create a foundation for economic growth, prosperity, and positive social determinants of health. ??? In partnership with Spokane Public Library, Thrive International will develop at least 45 units of affordable housing on a 1.62-acre lot at 6980 N. Nevada Street, a vacant property that the Library has owned since the 1990s. In addition to housing, the development will feature public event and learning space operated by the Library as well as a playground, greenhouse, and a 24/7 Library kiosk.?
