Over the past few months, we’ve had the honor of collaborating with an exceptional group of Japanese startups as part of our?Harvest Horizons Immersion Program?in partnership with?JETRO - Japan External Trade Organization - Japan External Trade Organization. This transformative program was designed to empower agri-food tech innovators with the tools, knowledge, and connections they need to scale globally. Phase 1: Accelerating Innovation The journey began with an intensive six-week acceleration program packed with dynamic workshops and virtual sessions. These covered a range of essential topics, including the?Silicon Valley mindset,?goal setting and scaling strategies,?mastering your pitch, the?US venture capital perspective, and insights into working with?US corporates, growers, and farmers. The program also addressed?legal considerations?for expanding into the US market. Participants benefited from the expertise of industry leaders ?Arthur Chen (Verdi),?Nathan Gold (Pitch Coach),?Masataka Someya (Kagome USA, Inc.),?Juliana Green (FMC Ventures ),?Nobu Morita (NEC X Inc.),?Stuart Dullard (Ashurst), Bruce Caldwell (3BarBio), Jason McNamee (LUCENT BIOSCIENCES) Mina Nakai (Deloitte) Andrew MacDonell (Topcon Agriculture), John Hartnett (SVG Ventures | THRIVE), Danny O'Brien (SVG Ventures | THRIVE) and Greg Young (SVG Ventures | THRIVE who brought their wealth of knowledge to these impactful sessions. Phase 2: Immersion in Silicon Valley The program’s second phase brought startups to the heart of global innovation—Silicon Valley—for a hands-on, immersive experience. Highlights included inspiring visits to leading hubs like?Stanford University,?UC Davis,?Bayer LifeHub,?AgStart, and?Driscoll’s Berries Farm, offering participants a rare glimpse into cutting-edge research, innovation, and business strategies.The week culminated in their participation at our?Global Impact Summit, where they connected with top industry leaders, investors, and peers. The summit provided unparalleled opportunities to build networks, access resources, and gain critical insights for scaling on a global stage.
