Employee Engagement is at a 10-Year Low—Here’s How We Fix It Last week, I had the pleasure of attending From 9 to Thrive, an incredible event for People + Culture professionals. One stat really hit home: ?? Only 31% of employees are engaged at work. That means nearly 7 out of 10 employees are either checked out or actively eyeing the “open roles” page on LinkedIn. One of the biggest takeaways? Engagement isn’t just an individual issue—it’s a team effort. At the event, we discussed the TEAM framework, which highlights four key drivers of engagement: T = Trust – Employees engage when they trust leadership. That means clear communication, psychological safety, and follow-through. E = Expectations – People want to know what success looks like, how their work contributes, and where they’re headed. Without clarity, disengagement creeps in. A = Acknowledgment – Employees don’t need over-the-top praise—they need to feel seen and valued. A simple “I appreciate you” goes further than you think. M = Motivation – A paycheck gets people in the door. Opportunities for growth, purpose, and well-being keep them engaged. Supporting your employees goes a long way. This obviously made me think....."how can I make this about me?" So of course I found a way to tie each of these four directly to Thrive (always shamelessly plugging us), but the truth is engagement is complex. It’s not about one magic fix—it’s about a combination of factors working together. That said… Thrive360 fits perfectly into an engagement strategy (I did warn you this was coming). We help organizations: - Build trust by offering employees anonymous, judgment-free access to mental and emotional well-being resources. No stigma. No fear of repercussions. Just real support. - Support expectations by equipping employees with content on productivity, time management, goal setting, communication, and more through the Thrive programs. - Increase acknowledgment through programs that foster appreciation, recognition, and community. - Drive motivation by supporting employees’ mental and emotional well-being—because engaged employees don’t just work harder, they thrive. (How'd I do? Did I tie it all together?) We’ve seen this work firsthand. Organizations that have implemented Thrive have reported higher engagement scores, lower turnover, and employees who actually feel supported at work. Happy to share any studies or clinical trials with anyone interested in seeing them, just comment or send me a message! #EmployeeEngagement #HRLeadership #WorkplaceCulture #TrustInTheWorkplace #PeopleFirst #peopleandculture Thrive360

A Thrive Reminder for your Tuesday: In 1911, two explorers set out on a dangerous race to become the first humans to reach the South Pole. ???? Roald Amundsen, a meticulous Norwegian, planned every detail—using sled dogs, storing supply depots along the way, and sticking to a consistent pace of 15 miles per day, no matter the conditions. ???? Robert Falcon Scott, a British naval officer, relied on a “push hard” approach— exhausting his team in harsh conditions. The result? Amundsen reached the pole first and returned safely. Scott and his entire team perished on the return journey. The lesson? Sustainable progress beats burnout. In our fast-paced world, we often push harder, work longer, and sacrifice rest in the name of success—but real, lasting achievements come from consistent, intentional effort over time. Sustainable success looks like: 1) Prioritizing well-being alongside productivity. 2) Sticking to small, daily habits. 3) Knowing that recovery is part of the strategy, not a setback. The difference between winning the race and burning out isn’t talent or effort—it’s the ability to pace yourself wisely. Thrive can help you prioritize your wellbeing with bit sized sessions you can incorporate easily into your daily routine-- and is proven to reduce burnout! Reach out to give your team the tools to be successful. Thrive360 #Thrive360 Christy Lamka #WorkLifeBalance #SustainableSuccess #Leadership #MentalWellness #PerformanceOptimization

The final weeks of December can feel like a race to the finish line! Deadlines, year-end reviews, holiday commitments, and financial pressures can pile up, leaving teams feeling stressed and overwhelmed. According to the American Institute of Stress, 80% of workers report feeling stress on the job, with the end of the year being a particularly high-pressure period. This can lead to burnout risks and lower morale. How You Can Help: 1) Deprioritize Non-Essential Tasks:?Encourage employees to focus on critical priorities and delay non-urgent work until the new year. 2) Recognize Hard Work:?A simple acknowledgment of your team’s efforts can go a long way in boosting morale. (Financial bonuses are obviously a plus!) 2) Offer Personalized Support: With Thrive, your team members have access to curated programs for whatever they might be dealing with this season! A little support during this busy season can make a big difference in how employees feel heading into the new year. Help your team finish strong and start 2024 with a fresh mindset. #mentalhealth #wellbeing

The holiday season, while festive for some, is one of the most challenging times of the year for many employees. Studies show that workplace productivity can dip in December, with heightened stress, financial pressures, and family obligations contributing to burnout and disengagement. Additionally, mental health concerns like seasonal affective disorder (SAD) and loneliness often spike during this time. This can lead to absenteeism, lower productivity, and tense team dynamics... Thrive's tailored programs specifically address the various challenges employees might be feeling, in an accessible, effective way. Investing in employee well-being during the holidays helps your employees- and your business- Thrive! #mentalhealth #wellbeing #SAD
