PROJECT UPDATE | Quick update on the Mars Hill University, Blackwell Hall Renovation & Addition project located in Mars Hill, NC. Our team has successfully completed the structural steel with the roofing substantially finished. The 3rd and 2nd floor slabs have been poured and we recently poured the final 1st floor slab on grade. As we close out the year we want to reflect on the challenges and successes we worked through this past year. Though we are still working to overcome the effects of Hurricane Helene in our community, we are celebrating the numbers our team produced this year. Throughout 2024 our team completed 319 pours and placed over 6,000 yards of concrete! Though we are small, we make a mighty impact! Last week we had a company breakfast to celebrate this milestone and thank our employees who put in the hard work each day. An old friend said it best – Thorsland believes in family. We spend a lot of time with the people we work with and at Thorsland Concrete + Construction we believe in treating each other like family. Right now one of our own is in need and we want to do everything we can to help make his life whole again. The Sibbach family faced an unimaginable tragedy during Hurricane Helene. On the morning of the storm, they went out for breakfast, unaware of the devastation awaiting them. Upon returning, they were met by police who informed them their street was flooded due to a mudslide that unleashed a tidal wave in Lake Adger, breaching the dam and engulfing their home. By the grace of God, they were safe, but they lost everything they owned. The road to recovery will be long and challenging, as they work to rebuild their lives and home. We are reaching out on their behalf, to the community for support during this difficult time. Any donation, no matter the size, will help them navigate the journey ahead rebuilding their home from the inside out. We are thankful to share that most of the Thorsland team made it out safe following the destruction from Hurricane Helene. One of our own, was not so lucky and lost his family home. Prayers were answered as a local builder opened the doors of his new home, offering shelter for this family until they can return to theirs.
