Project Highlight: Cabarrus Arena & Events Center The Cabarrus Arena & Events Center in Concord, North Carolina offers a flexible floor plan and state-of-the-art features. With a 5,000 sq ft arena and a 150,000 sq ft event space, the arena offers more meeting, banquet and exhibition options than any other facility in the area. Project highlight: ANA Hotel in San Francisco, California The hotel had a complete renovation which included audiovisual system design and construction administration for the ballroom and conference center upgrade. We designed the system which includes multiple head table locations, signal delay, microphones, background music, auxiliary inputs and ADA hearing assistance system. Project Highlight: Western Carolina University – Brown Hall Cullowhee, North Carolina This project renovated and expanded the 2-story, 1950’s era Brown Hall Building on the Western Carolina University campus in Cullowhee, NC. The ground floor houses the convenience store, which captures students converging down the hill to classes throughout the day. The second level houses offices for Campus Services, Residential Life and Community Ethics. The top floor includes the dining hall, an indoor seating area featuring a large stone fireplace, as well as scenic outdoor seating areas including a rooftop terrace, hillside plaza, a fire pit and a water feature. The dining hall can be used for presentations, performances, and meetings. The large conference room and adjacent medium conference rooms can be used as traditional conference/huddle rooms and as a student body association trial room. Project Highlight: San Jose’s LEED certified library includes a communal area, group areas, technical center, Internet café, study spaces, and community space. We provided acoustical consulting to promote natural acoustics, while enhancing speech intelligibility in the meeting rooms and counter areas. The audiovisual design included a paging and background music system throughout the building; the community room & technical center included ceiling-mounted data projector, retractable screen, and in-wall loudspeakers for program audio. #ProjectHighlight #LEED #AudiovisualDesign #AcousticalConsulting

Project Highlight: Hendrick Center for Automotive Excellence on the Scott Northern Wake Tech Campus in Raleigh, North Carolina The project consists of 75,000 square feet of automotive/collision repair lab space and 25,000 square feet of classroom space. Thorburn Associates partnered with WTCC to design a standard classroom audiovisual solution to be installed in each of the classrooms and computer labs. The conference rooms are equipped with conferencing systems and room scheduling. A digital visual art focal point was developed for the lobby, allowing students to share their work with the community that enters this remote campus building. It will also allow campus messaging and programs to be shared with the automotive students. The automotive labs are outfitted with cameras for instructors to project a demonstration onto a large screen for enhanced student viewing. Telecommunications were designed for the entire facility following BICSI and ANSI TIA0568-D Family of Standards and the State of North Carolina Statewide Information Security Manual. Because of the nature of education/work that occurs in this facility, we also conducted long term site noise measurements to have a baseline noise level as well as allowing the development of the appropriate level of noise control. Recommendations were made for room acoustics, sound isolation and mechanical noise and vibration control.

Project Highlight: Oakland Fire Station 20 Located at 1401 98th Avenue, the City of Oakland Fire Station 20 is one of 25 stations supported by 500 uniformed personnel. With extensive equipment and resources to respond to any emergency the Oakland Fire Department responds to over 60,000 calls annually. We worked on Fire Stations 3 and 20, providing acoustical recommendations for interior to exterior sound isolation, room acoustics, and mechanical noise and vibration control. #RoomAcoustics #Acoustical #Sound #ProjectHighlight
