Meet the Team is back! We're excited to take today to introduce you to our Heavy Equipment Mechanic, Sydnye! Currently a student at Davidson-Davie Community College, she will graduate with a degree from their Diesel & Heavy Equipment Technology Program as well as with a class A CDL license. Her projected graduation date is May 2025. ??How long have you been working at Thompson-Arthur? Since May 2024 ??Describe Thompson-Arthur in 3 words. Helpful, Intriguing and Hard Work ??What encouraged you to choose an internship at Thompson-Arthur? I attended a job fair at school and Jeremy Gutshall, our equipment manager, said that the company is more like a family, a work family. One of the most attractive parts of the company was that they already employ several women who work out in the field and have been with the company anywhere from a few years up to 25+. A sure sign that the company is a great place for women to work. Once I heard these things, and after doing some research on my own about the company, I was impressed and decided it was where I wanted to begin my career. ??What do you like most about working here? I like all the help that is offered. No one treats me any different, even though I am a woman in a male-dominated field. If I have a question or need help, I can always find it. ??Who are some of your inspirations at Thompson-Arthur? Jeremy Gutshall and Bobby Greenwood ??What drives your success? Wanting to be the best of the best, having to work for what I deserve and not having anything handed to me. ??What is a lesson you have learned in your time with the company? “RULE #1-Never get in a hurry” shared by Bobby Greenwood. ??What is the best advice you could give a new hire at our company? Hard work and determination will get you noticed and help you to go far in this company. ??Why do women need to be involved in construction? To show men what perfection looks like! ?? Seriously, most women naturally possess great organizational skills and are very observant. These are very valuable skills to ensure quality work and a safe work environment. ??Who is your favorite person? My Dad. ??What is your secret talent? I am a talented imagery painter. ??If you could go anywhere in the world, where would that be? Paris, France ??What is your number one goal in life?
