Exciting progress in the Coastal Region! This week, Horry County Schools celebrated topping off ceremonies for their new elementary schools on Carolina Forest Boulevard and Ronald McNair Boulevard. Board members and community leaders joined together to sign steel beams before they were raised into place at the top of the structures. Each 134,000 SF school will welcome up to 1,200 students next August, creating inspiring spaces for learning and growth. We are proud to celebrate this achievement with our design teammate SMHa and all of our valued trade partners. King, Site Director for Columbia College’s Call Me MiSTER program, led an inspiring breakout session on mentoring students. Call Me MiSTER seeks to increase the pool of available teachers from diverse backgrounds to serve challenged elementary schools. We were excited to join Lexington County School District One for the ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new South Lake Elementary School! Guests, including the design team from Jumper Carter Sease Architects, enjoyed speeches from State Superintendent of Education Ellen Weaver and Lexington 1 Superintendent Dr. Gerrita Postlewait. And drum roll ... student representatives unveiled the name of the Blue Heeler mascot! Welcome to "Stanley," named in honor of first-ever principal, Jennifer Stanley. This 35,000 SF facility, located beside the current Sumter Museum, will be dedicated to preserving and celebrating our military history.
