Welcome to UR Medicine Thompson Health's home on LinkedIn. An award-winning, nonprofit healthcare system, Thompson began as a small community hospital more than 100 years ago. Today, we are the premier healthcare provider for approximately 215,000 people in upstate New York’s greater Finger Lakes area. With more than 550 practitioners, over 1,700 associates and approximately 200 community volunteers, we offer a full range of healthcare services. Our system has locations in Ontario, Livingston, Monroe and Wayne counties and includes: ? The 113-bed F.F. Thompson Hospital ? 24-hour skilled nursing care at the M.M. Ewing Continuing Care Center, with an off-site medical adult day program ? Independent and enriched living apartments at Ferris Hills at West Lake and Clark Meadows ? Primary care services at 10 medical practices ? Family health and wellness services, including educational programs to promote healthy lifestyles ? The Sands Cancer Center, part of UR Medicine's Wilmot Cancer Institute ? A full range of rehabilitative services ? Eight lab draw stations ? A comprehensive breast imaging center ? Two urgent care centers F.F. Thompson Hospital has designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a Magnet? hospital and from the state as a Stroke Center. Quality designations from the Joint Commission include Certificates of Distinction in Knee Replacement and Hip Replacement, Orthopedic Rehabilitation Certification and Advanced Perinatal Certification. Thompson was also the first hospital in New York to be named a Center of Excellence in Hernia Surgery? by the Surgical Review Corporation (SRC). Thompson Health was named one of Becker Hospital Review's Top 150 Places to Work in Healthcare in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018. Also in 2018, the health system received “LGBTQ Healthcare Equality Leader” designation from the Human Rights Campaign Foundation (HRC), which previously recognized the health system four times since 2014.

We enjoyed great weather today for a longstanding Thompson tradition referred to – internally and lovingly – as “The Turkey Toss.” With drive-thru service, all Thompson associates were invited to swing by the pole barn behind our hospital, where system leaders were handing out the annual holiday gift. Associates could choose from a turkey, a fresh ham, or a veggie lasagna!

Fourteen new associates joined us this week, and a few shared the reasons why they wanted to be a part of Thompson.
