Today is World Mental Health Day! Successfully lobbied for by NAMI, World Mental Health Day is a day of awareness and support for those struggling with their mental health. This year, World Mental Health Day participants are focusing on mental health in the workplace and how to navigate the professional stressors in life. Even outside of the office, everyone deserves a support system and access to the resources they need to thrive. This #WorldMentalHealthDay, check on your loved ones and be honest with them about how you’re feeling, too. Every open conversation brings us closer to community.

Since 1990, Americans have celebrated the first full week of October as Mental Illness Awareness Week after NAMI lobbied Congress to create this critical awareness event. This year, Mental Illness Awareness Week is October 6 – 12 and World Mental Health Day is October 10. No matter what you’re going through, #MentalIllnessAwarenessWeek is a great reminder that you are not alone and there are resources available to support you on your journey. TMWC is proud to be one of those resources. Visit https://lnkd.in/eywxt6Wy for more on #MIAW.

This week we were visited by Toledo PD officers for Crisis Intervention Team training. CIT training helps law enforcement interact with people who live with mental illness. The training is designed to reduce the risk of serious injury or death during interactions between police and people experiencing mental illness. #CIT #TMWC #TPD
