A painful reminder of the damage to customers and organizations when private keys are compromised. An often overlooked reality is that updatable smart contracts are also controlled by a private key, and therefore are prone to private key attacks. If the key is compromised, it’s game over. A best practice to prevent this, is managing the keys with MPC alongside role-based access control, to eliminate single points of failure and prevent attackers or rogue employees from carrying out unauthorized actions.
Munchables, a GameFi project built on Blast, reported late Tuesday that it was “compromised” to the tune of $62 million. It seems a Blast dapp developer hired himself four times before absconding with the sum. The exploit shows how centralization can sometimes be an asset. https://lnkd.in/eNC24FsU
