Today, we honor the essential right to vote. In 1920, the 19th Amendment was ratified, granting voting rights to some women—a step toward equality in the voting process. But full voting equality wasn’t realized until the Voting Rights Act of 1965. Today, women survivors of trafficking, exploitation, and addiction still face barriers to full participation in elections. Many have lost their voting rights due to past criminal records. For the women Thistle Farms serves, regaining the right to vote is a hard-won victory and a meaningful milestone in their healing journey. As we cast our votes, let’s honor this privilege on behalf of all those who cannot stand in the voting booth today.

At Thistle Farms, we know that healing from trauma goes far beyond just providing safe housing or access to health care. True healing happens when a woman has the tools, confidence, and safety to take control of her recovery journey—physically, mentally, and emotionally. ??
