When we see a scar, it is only natural to wonder how that scar was created. With every scar, there is a story to tell behind it. Most of our scars aren’t actually visible on the outside, though. The scars that have really shaped us, we wear internally and are afraid to let anyone see or hear about them. Scars don’t have to be a bad thing, though. With every scar comes a lesson that shapes us. We are built and made stronger through the distress. It can be painful and uncomfortable at the time, but there is beauty in the journey. There is inspiration, growth, and eventually healing. Your scars don’t have to be silent. They can be learned from, shared, and healed. What stories are hidden in your scars? Take a look at the stories behind your scars with us in The Path at https://lnkd.in/dDQ6vGeQ

Millions of people worry that drinking is affecting their health, yet are unwilling to seek change because of the misery and stigma associated with alcoholism and recovery. They fear drinking less will be boring, involving deprivation, difficulty and significant lifestyle changes. This Naked Mind offers a new solution. Packed with surprising insight into the reasons we drink, it will open your eyes to the startling role of alcohol in our culture. Annie Grace brilliantly weaves psychological, neurological, cultural, social and industry factors with her extraordinarily candid journey resulting in a must read for anyone who drinks. This book, without scare tactics, pain or rules, gives you freedom from alcohol. By addressing causes rather than symptoms it is a permanent solution rather than lifetime struggle. It removes the psychological dependence allowing you to easily drink less (or stop drinking). Annie’s clarity, humor and unique ability to blend original research with riveting storytelling ensures you will thoroughly enjoy the process. In a world defined by ‘never enough’ Annie takes us on an intellectual journey through the world of alcohol and specifically the connection between alcohol and pleasure. She dispels the cultural myth that alcohol is a vital part of life and demonstrates how regaining control over alcohol is not only essential to personal happiness and fulfillment but also to ending the heartache experienced by millions as a result of secondhand drinking. Finally, with perfect clarity, this book opens the door to the life you have been waiting for. “I loved this gentle, down-to-earth explanation of problems with alcohol use, and the clear, structured way to challenge your thinking and behaviors around drinking. It helped me pass from shame and guilt into real and positive action.” Elizabeth R., Australia

"It's not your fault." Believe it or not, these words have the power to change everything. So often when it comes to traditional recovery, we believe that we are at fault. We believe that we have some genetic or personality defect that caused us to become addicted to an addictive substance. I'm here to tell you that couldn't be further from the truth. There is nothing wrong with you. If you have found yourself drinking more than you want to, you are not to blame. Alcohol is an addictive substance, and your brain and body are reacting in exactly the way we humans are designed to. Once we realize this and give ourselves a little compassion, everything can change! Give yourself compassion with us in The Path at https://lnkd.in/eYBBdhMA

Remember childhood? Rules were clear, choices limited. Saying "no" often meant punishment, disappointment, or a mountain of guilt. But those days are long gone and it seems that we forgot to grow up when it comes to realizing who is in charge now! Adulthood isn't like recess anymore. You get to define your own damn rules! We all, deep down, have this inner CEO of "Yes"es. Friends' requests? Check. Family obligations? Check. Work demands that have you questioning your sanity? Ugh, check. We agree, often at the expense of our wallets, well-being, and maybe even our inner voice screaming "NOOOO!" Spoiler alert: every "yes" is a "no" to something else. Your health, your passions, your precious time – all get sacrificed on the altar of constant agreement. Say Yes to yourself and know that you're calling the shots now! Do it with us in the FREE 5-Day Control Alcohol Challenge at https://lnkd.in/e8DgpCTM

Your emotions matter. The way you feel has a huge impact on how you get through everyday life, relationships, & your mental health. Here are some tips for being emotionally well. Take care of your body. Physical activity can drastically improve our mental state. Go on a quick run or even a brisk walk to increase your level of endorphins; natural mood lifters. You might surprise yourself with how much better you feel after just a little physical activity. Think before you act. It's hard to put out a fire when acting out of haste. We often speak without thinking & end up wishing we could take back our words. To handle stress the best way possible - think before doing things you regret. Next time you face a stressful situation, consider your options & make the best choice for you. Strive for balance. It's easy to pour ourselves into our work, school, or even relationships & neglect the other parts that matter as well. Finding balance allows individual growth & helps establish mental peace. Make a list of the different areas in your life, what is causing you stress. Determine where you want to put your energy & find your balance. Let go of anger & resentment. It is hard to let go of the things that hurt us & it is hard to forgive. But the truth is, holding on to that resentment hurts you more than it hurts anyone else. I promise, if you decide to let go of whatever grudges you may be holding, you will find yourself infinitely happier & more at peace. Find your purpose & meaning. When we don’t know our purpose or have a love for something, we feel lost. Take time to figure out what is important to you. It could be anything - find it & spend time on what matters to you. For most of us what we know about habits, behavior, and change is DEAD WRONG. Mostly because outdated/unfounded research and advice still exists and is what we hear the most. Repetition is NOT what forms habits. There is no magic number. Habits are formed by emotions. Emotion drives our behavior and is the guiding principle in creating lasting change. You can change by force, or You can change by negative emotions but it WILL cost you. It will steal your joy, your happiness, your health - there will be a tradeoff. Positive emotion associated with change allows for new habits to form quickly and allows for positive changes. That new behavior sticks because - you LIKE how it makes you feel! Join us for the 5-Day Control Alcohol to learn more on how to discover life beyond alcohol's influence or even the desire to drink so YOU'RE in control of when, where, and how much you drink.
