VC success strategy and a cycle of reinvestment ?? Shaun Abrahamson
Third Sphere works for founders transforming global systems. We’ve made over 100 investments in notable firms like Cove Tool, OneWheel and Bowery Farming. We’re usually a pre-customer investor and offer traditional venture as well as credit finance, along with coaching and connections to over 12,000 customers, investors focused on re-imagining our planet. Our team is ranked in the 99th percentile of climatetech investors on NFX Signal, and Techcrunch named us one of the top 10 VCs founders love the most. We know that climate is about more than carbon—it’s also about force multipliers like asset finance and distribution. We believe the best climate solutions don’t look like climate solutions at all, just better, faster, and cheaper products and services. We prefer rapid deployment that will get us close to 1.5C in warming while upgrading our systems to make them more resilient. But we’ll also look at moonshot opportunities because we know we need a plan B. [VC] A real investment is about more than capital. We invest at the earliest stages, usually pre-customer, stay close to our founders, and work with them from the inception of our relationship so they can build relationships with other founders, investors, and customers. [Credit] Our investments are designed to minimize dilution and preserve ownership for your team without compromising on rapid growth and impact. That’s why, in addition to venture investment, we lend and create asset finance structures like leasing vehicles. [Platform] The Third Sphere platform helps to connect portfolio founders with leading founders, investors, and customers in climatetech. We use it internally to source the most promising investments and to make introductions within our network in order to increase our portfolio’s chances of achieving rapid impact at scale. [History] We probably look familiar. We used to be known as Urban Us. Here's what's changed - https://hubs.li/Q014-Jsb0

Product in the top spot again across out portfolio. Join Arbor to help consumers automagically save on energy. Or Plentify where you can help people get much more from solar. Or maybe you'd prefer to help Mill cut food waste. As you start to think about what you'll do in 2025, check out over 200 opportunities to work on climate, from 84 companies. https://lnkd.in/grGctbky
With Trump returning to the White House with a Republican-led Congress, his policies are likely to impact climate action and immigration, reshaping the landscape for founders. Founders are already being asked by investors what shifts like threatened federal programs and potential DOE rollbacks to looming challenges in international cooperation and immigration, mean to their company. There are some positives like resilient state programs, stronger adaptation focus, and opportunities for exits and scaling “faster, better, cheaper” climate solutions. Planning ahead will be key—especially in funding, customer needs, and talent access. More below.

Why we invested in Nevoya, the 100% electric trucking company https://lnkd.in/ghkKvbEX
Detailed, rapid and cost effective data bout our physical world has never been more important. So happy to see CNBC talking with Rema Matevosyan about Near Space Labs fantastic progress.
??Catch us on CNBC Power Lunch! Our CEO Rema Matevosyan and Third Sphere's Shaun Abrahamson joined Diana Olick to showcase how Near Space Labs' robotic balloons are transforming the insurance industry’s approach to increasingly devastating and frequent climate events. In today's volatile risk landscape, insurers need more than just data – they need immediate, actionable intelligence. We're empowering leaders like Swiss Re with ultra-high resolution geospatial imagery. This enables rapid damage assessment and claims processing at a fraction of traditional costs. "With our Swift's, insurance companies are able to get access to information right after the catastrophe, assess the damage, and pay out claims in days, rather than weeks or months." Well... the secret's out! So excited to finally share the news that Nevoya has completed its oversubscribed seed round led by Third Sphere and RedBlue Capital, with participation from a number of investors including Never Lift, Necessary Ventures, Stepchange and Ciri Ventures. EVs are already able to tackle 50% of the trucking market today, with significant cost benefits vs diesel. Instead of thinking about how we switch out diesel for electric, we're focussing on building the trucking company of the future, based around EVs. We're solving a real problem for our customers and, most importantly, reducing greenhouse gas emissions immediately. There are so many people who've helped us get this far, and we're thankful to all of them, but some people to single out from me - Eamon Jubbawy whose immediate reply to my 4 paragraph essay about the future of trucking was "go do it lol"; Olaf Sakkers, Elisha Jacobs and Shaun Abrahamson for believing in us from the get-go; Jamil Wyne for being the ultimate introducer and cheerleader, with Sophie Purdom and Mehrad Yaghmai not far behind! And of course to my co-founders, John Verdon and Thomas Atwood - couldn't think of 2 better people to be down in the trenches with, and incredibly excited to continue to build something special with you both. Onwards and upwards from here! Don't forget to follow Nevoya to stay up to date with how we're decarbonising the US trucking market.
