The Meltdown: Foundry issues in the UK were seriously impacting a customer. Late on a Wednesday evening, a call was received from an important domestic customer regarding a foundry in the UK experiencing several challenges, including poor yields resulting in schedule delays. These delays negatively impacted the customer's output on a critical product line. A call was placed to the UK representative, who was located near the foundry, and a site visit and assessment were performed on Thursday. Due to the representative's engineering experience with a major aerospace OEM and knowledge of the required specifications, a rework process for numerous marginal parts was developed collaboratively with the foundry. Once the three-week rework cycle was completed, the supplier was back on schedule, and the project was successfully concluded. The customer was extremely satisfied not only by the prompt response but also by the urgency demonstrated and the representative’s technical capabilities. In a broad Scope of Work, they had a critical US Military delivery that 14 supplier's current promise dates that did not support their delivery dates for final assembly and test.
