The way we talk about women’s literature has deep roots—and history keeps repeating itself. Chris Hedlin, University of Notre Dame, and Dr. Ashley Reed, Virginia Tech, dive into the fascinating history of women’s fiction in the 19th century and how it shapes the way we read and talk about books today in the ThinkND series "Women's Work". "In some ways, it was similar to today. Newspapers and magazines proliferated without much copyright regulation, spreading misinformation and disinformation. Most had literature sections filled with reviews—much like BookTok. Many engaged in 'puffery'—trading good reviews for favors.
