High-performers don’t burn out because they’re weak—they burn out because they push too hard for too long. I ignored the warning signs, kept working, and landed in the ER. If you’ve ever felt like you can’t slow down, this is for you. Let’s talk about why the best people burn out first. I've had this article written for a while and just got the courage to share it today because I think it's an important topic that so many can relate to, including myself. I share a real story about how my high-performance tendencies led me to the ER in December 2022.

?? Welcome, Kylie Wendover! ?? From May – December 2018, we had the pleasure of working with Delaney Slade as our first intern, and it was a fantastic (and fun) experience! After several years, without an intern, we’re excited to announce that we’re bringing our internship program back! Our interns gain valuable hands-on experience in customer service and support, working with a variety of clients. They also get a behind-the-scenes look at program preparation, provide onsite (and virtual) support during events, and take on a wide range of administrative responsibilities to keep everything running smoothly. This year, we’re thrilled to welcome Kylie Wendover as our intern! Kylie is currently a freshman at San Diego State University, where she’s double majoring in Integrated Marketing and Graphic Design. She also happens to be the daughter of our founder, Amber Wendover—so you could say she’s been around our work since the beginning! Kylie will be working part-time around her class schedule and school commitments during the spring semester and we hope to get her on-site with clients this summer. We’re excited to have Kylie’s energy, creativity, and passion on board. Here's to a great season of learning, growth, and collaboration - please help us welcome Kylie to the team!

?? Celebrating 7 Incredible Years! ?? This month marks 7 years since I launched Thinking People in January 2018. To say this journey has exceeded my expectations would be an understatement. What started as a dream has grown into a thriving business, thanks to the trust, collaboration, and support of so many along the way. Starting a business in 2018 came with its own challenges. They say the first year of a new business is hard, the second year is a bit better, and the third year determines your trajectory. Well, my third year was #COVID. The world turned upside down, but with the support of amazing partners and colleagues, we pivoted this business more times than I can count. Despite those challenges, we hit our stride and had surpassed our income goal by 3x in 2021 and 2022. And now, we’re on track for a phenomenal 2025. Over these years, we’ve traveled the #world together, #partnering with companies, 63 different companies to be exact, of all shapes and sizes—from startups to mid-sized companies, to industry giants - for profits and non-profits - early career to mid-career to senior executives. We have supported 14 companies being acquired, 3 closing and the rest growing! Each partnership has been an opportunity to learn, grow, and make a meaningful impact, and for that, I am deeply grateful. Putting my gratitude into words—or pictures—has been no easy task, but I’ve done my best to create a video that captures our journey, our growth, and the incredible moments that have brought us here. To my business partners, colleagues and peers: thank you for believing in the Thinking People vision. You all have been the heartbeat of Thinking People and I couldn't do this without you. To our clients, your trust means the world to us, and we are so grateful to have had the opportunity to support your growth and success. As we look ahead to another year of exciting opportunities, I want to take a moment to pause and celebrate how far we’ve come together. Here’s to continuing this amazing journey in 2025 and beyond! If you need executive coaching, master facilitation or business strategists, drop us a note. We would love to see if we are a good fit to help you this year! With gratitude, Amber PS: There are too many people and companies to tag, so if you've worked with me or the team, please consider leaving a message of your favorite memory or how we helped you throughout the years!! Let's toast to what we have accomplished and what still lies ahead!!

As an executive coach, I have the privilege of working with a diverse range of individuals—leaders, managers, and up-and-coming professionals. This week, almost every coaching conversation has turned, in some way, to the recent U.S. presidential election. The election has stirred strong feelings on both sides, bringing to light the deep divides within our country. It’s been interesting to observe the differing ways my clients are navigating the outcome, especially as they wrestle with how to express their views in an increasingly polarized environment. As an executive coach, my role isn’t to endorse one view over another but to encourage dialogue, curiosity, and respect. In these conversations, I’ve seen how important it is to approach one another with an open mind, especially when we disagree. We all want a stronger, more united country; we just have different visions of how to achieve that. I've written about my experiences talking to my clients this week and what an eye-opening experience it's been to hear from so many diverse perspectives. You can read the full article via Substack, link in the comments. *** Hi, my name is?Amber Wendover, and I'm the founder of?Thinking People. I spend my days working one-on-one with professionals, helping them navigate difficult situations, manage conflict, and become the best version of themselves. I have the privilege of working with a diverse range of individuals from various backgrounds, regions, and political beliefs. I work alongside some of the smartest people in the world at some of the most well-known companies, and if there's one thing I know for sure, it's this: no matter who they voted for, they are smart, compassionate, and caring individuals.

During a program yesterday with Microsoft we did an activity that has been around for decades. The small groups drew a picture that represented their team. They filled in characteristics that make a high performing team and the only rule is the image must float. We had lots of images surface but with the help of technology, these two images also were shown. #copilot helped with the bottle and while it didn’t catch the misspelled word “calculated” it did a pretty good job. The Hoover board was made with stock images and also looks pretty awesome. Technology, including #ai can really be awesome if used effectively and smartly. I’m really impressed with the creativity from this team! *** Want to learn more about our work and how we can help you and your team? When I launched Thinking People in 2018, I saw a common theme across all my work: People often fail to look inward. They don’t realize that, in most situations, the starting point is themselves. That’s when the tagline came to me: “It starts with you.” I envisioned a program that went beyond soft skills training—something deeper, an experience that focused on the one thing we can all control and hold accountable: ourselves. It would be a transformational experience, not just a lecture or a keynote, delivered by me and eventually a team under the Thinking People brand. The premise of my company is simple: We’re all thinking people, capable of growth and change, but sometimes we need others to help us see things from a new perspective. ?? Today, we, Thinking People Consulting, LLC, signed a master service agreement with a new client after six months of meaningful discussions. This milestone is a testament to our commitment to building strong, sustainable partnerships. When I mention that it takes us 4-7 months to close a deal, people are often surprised. Here's why it takes time: * Collaborative Partnerships: We aim for more than just "one-off" workshops. Our goal is to create lasting, impactful relationships. * Effective Engagements: We want to ensure what we bid makes sense for the company's goals, whether that be workshops, coaching, or training programs. * Commitment and Budget: We want to ensure our clients are ready to invest both time and money for a successful collaboration. * Mutual Understanding: It's essential for all key stakeholders to understand each other, fostering a mutually beneficial partnership before committing long-term. * Thorough Legal Review: Legal reviews on both sides take time, but they're crucial for ensuring everything is in order. Huge shoutout to the legal team for their meticulous work! Building these partnerships takes time, but the results are worth it. Here's to many more successful collaborations! ?? What are we missing in this list???? Let us know!
