Sure, fear and prudence keeps us safe. And I believe our “YES” means more when we strongly consider the “NO” response. However, it might be time to stop over-thinking. Stuck in a “yeah, but …” quandary? ?? Here are three good questions to help frame the decision: What’s at risk if I don’t say yes to this change or commitment? What is the predictable future with no change? Given all this, what will I do next?

Everyone has the opportunity to be accountable for the big outcomes. Outcomes like nobody getting hurt for the life of the project, meeting quality expectations, and, of course, $ and schedule results. Here is the secret. The more and greater outcomes you can sincerely claim accountability, the more satisfied and successful you will be. Being wholeheartedly accountable for creating culture, building aligned relationships, and tirelessly working towards a shared vision will bring you respect and rewards. No matter your level in the org chart.

Don't wait. People who actively create and manage their careers tend to be the people who look back with pride on their professional accomplishments. People who follow their calling in life; creatively scheming to achieve their visions while staying present to each moment and day; these are the people who reflect at the end of their life with fewer regrets. Don't wait.

Here is a completely free 360 survey you can start right now. 1?? Identify ~5 people who know you well and have an impact on you. Think partner, boss, peers, friends, and trusted reports. 2?? Send an email to them with the clear request to name 5 characteristics they see in you frequently. Give them just a little guidance and context. Maybe 4 strengths and a characteristic you might want to change. 3?? Make a promise to follow-up with them on what you have learned. Promise to share 5 characteristics you see in them frequently when you follow-up. You will gather ~ 25 characteristics about you from the 5 responses. Look at these as a whole. I bet there will be some duplication. Follow up on the promise in #3 above. The timeline for all of this should be ~ 3-weeks. (I’ve done a similar exercise as a part of a one day workshop.). Notice how the relationships with your 5 trusted friends shift because of this process. Consider making a few commitments as a result of this feedback. Need some support getting started or working with this feedback? PM me, I will help. I’d love to see comments on this. Have I done this? You bet. I take my own medicine. My attributes are on my website. Click the link to see more. https://zurl.co/gmNk

As leaders, our emotions are contagious. The way we feel and the energy we bring to our teams shape the culture they experience every day. A leader with strong executive presence understands this and uses their emotional fluency to foster a positive, productive environment. Have you ever worked with a leader who created a toxic environment just with their tone and emotions? Keep your comments anonymous! Curious about how you can cultivate emotional fluency and executive presence? PM me. I partner with leaders to increase impact, create aligned teams, and deliver better results.

I don’t take the word “transformational” lightly. Transformation literally means to change from one way of being to another. Like a caterpillar into a ?? I literally transformed how I approached my everyday job when I developed the mindset of focusing on being significant over being successful. From short term to long term results From task delegation to delegating for growth From seeking approval from others to aligning with others From happiness defined by bosses to happiness according to me. This transformation occurred in my 1st career and long before I became a leadership coach. In retrospect, I now realize how amazingly easy it was to shift my mindset and transform into a more effective leader and manager. Transformation feels risky, but is it? What is the risk of not changing? When have you made a mindset shift which transformed you from one way of being to another? Please comment. As leadership coach I support my clients in transforming how they relate to others and themselves. The results are truly transformational. PM me to learn more.
