Do you have dietary requirements? What do you wish other people understood about them? There are so many dietary requirements beyond vegan and vegetarian. From coeliac disease to halal, kosher, allergies, intolerances, and more, these needs can shape how and what we eat. Eating is often seen as a social event, a time for festivity and connection. What better way to tell someone they matter than by taking the time to accommodate their dietary requirements? We’d love to hear from you: - What do you wish others understood about your dietary needs? - How could people or organisations make mealtimes more inclusive? Here are some examples we’ve heard: “Gluten-free doesn’t just mean avoiding bread.. it’s cross-contamination too!” “Halal and kosher diets aren’t preferences, they’re cultural and religious necessities.” “I have severe allergies, so ‘it probably doesn’t have nuts’ isn’t good enough.” “I wish people would label all ingredients clearly. It makes such a difference!” Comment below and share your thoughts—your voice could help make meals more inclusive for everyone. Great insights from today's Business Wales / Busnes Cymru event in Cardiff. The session highlighted the importance of employee retention and why businesses need to focus on keeping and supporting their talent. Sophie highlighted the vital role of EDI in employee retention and the high cost of neglecting it. With discriminatory practices costing the UK economy £127 billion annually, businesses must prioritise inclusive workplaces, career growth, and employee well-being to drive success. What would you want the customer service representative to understand about YOU before they/you called? Great communication happens when each party can understand one another's intentions, cultures, languages, and needs. But let’s face it—so much gets lost through misunderstanding. Each of us is unique, with our own complex issues, and by the time we’re speaking to a customer service representative, we’ve likely already tried to solve our problem in several ways. We’re often frustrated, tired, or overwhelmed. So, is there anything they could know in advance that would help facilitate better communication? Comment below and let us know what would make a difference for you. Here are a few ideas our team came up with: "I'd want them to know I have a young baby and can't pick up a call after 6pm." "I'd want them to know that Friday is common prayer time and I won't be available." "I'd want them to know I'm grieving the loss of a loved one and I need them to send out conversation notes in bullet points to read afterward." "I'd want them to know I can't understand context unless I can see their face." "I'd want them to know I'm a survivor of domestic abuse and to let me tell them the debt they're referring to isn't mine before they are rude to me, because it's triggering." Your insights could spark new ways to improve customer service for everyone. Let’s start the conversation. [Image description: A white background with bold purple text reading, "What would you want the customer service representative to understand about YOU before they/you called?" Below, the ThinkEDI logo is visible on the left. On the right, a smiling woman with curly hair wearing a headset is shown, sitting in front of a laptop. Should we ditch the emoji all together? Did you know that every emoji has a unique description? This means when assistive technology, like a screen reader, reaches an emoji it will read out the description for it. For example: Hello ?? to all our new followers. We ?? to see new faces. Join us at 10am for our next webinar ?? Through a screen reader this would sound like: Hello waving hand to all our new followers. We pink heart to see new faces. Join us at 10am for our next webinar Ten O’clock. Sounds confusing, doesn’t it? Emojis might look cool but when used incorrectly they are very inaccessible! Next time you post, think, do I really need to put an emoji there? To find out descriptions for emojis visit emoji pedia .org Image description: On a purple background a blue box appears with writing that reads, Did you know? Every emoji has its very own unique description? 3 emojis sit below this and the description for those are: Star-struck, Smiling face with hearts and Thinking face. #SocialMedia #EDI #DEI #Inclusion #Inclusive #Content #Advertising #Marketing #Thinkedi #DidYouKnowFacts #Emoji

Looking back at the unforgettable morning at She Who UK last week for International Women's Day 2025, celebrating ambition, breaking barriers, and driving change. ?? Gathering over 250 united individuals at Cardiff’s Marriott Hotels, we heard from an outstanding panel of speakers: - Dr. Asel Sartbaeva (co-found & CEO, EnsiliTech) - Beren Kayali (Co-found & CTO, Deploy? ) - Sophie Mason (Founder & CEO, ThinkEDI) - Andries Pretorius (Former International Rugby player and founder, One Step North) Each shared powerful, personal, and unique stories of resilience, innovation, and purpose. They were truly phenomenal and an inspiration to everyone in the room. Guided by the brilliant Gabriella Francesca Jukes, the discussions sparked thought-provoking conversations on how we can all take action and move forward with intent. Beyond the inspiring talks, it was a fantastic opportunity to connect, network, and support an incredible cause. Over £700 was raised on the day for Vale Domestic Abuse Services , helping them continue their vital work for those experiencing domestic abuse and sexual violence. A huge thank you to the sponsors of the event - Admiral Group Plc, Hodge, tiQtoQ Ltd - Quality Engineering, Confused.com and Ogi - for making it all possible. Plans are already in progress for next year! Who’s joining us? ???? We can’t wait to do it all again with The Alacrity Foundation UK, FinTech Wales, Tramshed Tech, and Blake Morgan LLP. #IWD2025 #DiversityInTech #CyberSecurity #PureCyberDefence #SheWhoUK
