LIGHTS, CAMERA, INSIGHT! Think Africa ?? Keynotes and Education ?? We were thrilled that our proposal, "Smart Powering Africa's Future: A Green Grand Strategy" was accepted as one of the presentations at the inaugural African Futures Conference in October this year. This keynote was a short preview into an upcoming Green Creative Education Series that Think Africa will launch in 2025, aiming to empower businesses, individuals and communities with the knowledge and skills necessary for a greener tomorrow. Our module explores strategic considerations for Africa's future, focusing on how the continent can enhance its smart power to accelerate green growth. It offers futuristic models and scenario plans built upon creative solutions to solve for an African grand strategy. Our presentation also highlighted the potential for creative thinking to propel the continent outside its comfort zone. ?? AFRICA'S PERFORMANCE AT THE 2024 PARIS OLYMPICS ? The 2024 Olympics witnessed impressive performances from several #African countries, showcasing a compelling narrative about the relationship between sports excellence and economic challenges. Countries like #Kenya, #Ethiopia, and #SouthAfrica stood out, securing medals primarily in athletics and swimming. Despite having modest GDPs compared to global powerhouses, these countries demonstrated that economic limitations do not necessarily hinder sporting prowess. Investment in talent development, infrastructure, community support, and a strong sports culture have been pivotal. This Olympic success story highlights the potential for nations with lower GDPs to make a significant mark on the global stage through dedication and strategic investment in sports.

Unpacking "The Mundanity of Excellence" by Daniel F. Chambliss ?? In his study, Chambliss explores what truly defines excellence in competitive swimming. Excellence is clear in competition. Unlike other fields, success in sports is clearly defined—winners and losers emerge without ambiguity. This clarity allows for a precise study of what constitutes excellence. UNTHINK: It's Not About ‘Talent’: Chambliss argues that the concept of talent can obscure the real drivers of success. Instead of inherent gifts, excellence comes from qualitative changes in behavior— HOW athletes train and prepare, rather than just the amount of effort they put in. Chambliss challenges us to RETHINK our understanding of excellence—it's not just about being extraordinary, but making the mundane extraordinary through consistency, dedication, and a little creativity.
