?? Our space came alive yesterday with powerful stories during our Migrant Writing Workshop led by renowned Peruvian writer Gabriela Wiener. The workshop brought together 15 community members representing diverse ages, origins, and life experiences—some traveling across the Bay Area for up to two hours to participate. The echoes of our session yesterday still resonate with us. It was a true privilege to welcome Gabriela into our space to build, write, laugh, cry, and heal as a community. Evoking Lorde's "Litany for Survival," we who live on the margins and were "not meant to survive" are still here, persisting in our struggle and resistance! ????? ? A round of applause for the organizers, our Dev Manager, Maria Arteaga, and Advocacy Manager, Kristen Acosta, who put their hearts into making this event happen down to the smallest detail. ?? Special thanks to Natalia Brizuela, director of the Center for Latin American Studies at UC Berkeley, for helping coordinate this event.

March 8 is a reminder—our fight is far from over. ????? #InternationalWomensDay was born from working women’s struggles, and today, that fight continues. At The Women's Building, we see it every day—our staff, volunteers, and community members show up, not just for themselves, but for those arriving with the least resources, seeking safety, opportunity, and connection. For us, this work is deeply personal. Many of us at TWB have roots in the Global South—born, raised, or with family still there. We know firsthand the challenges of migration, displacement, and resilience. When we provide financial coaching, job support, housing assistance, legal clinics, tech help, and food access—it’s not just a service, it’s a commitment to our community. We do this because we’ve lived it. In the face of systemic violence, the only real solution is community solidarity. We care, we fight, and we build power—together. ?? Now more than ever, we need your support. Political attacks won’t weaken our communities, but we can’t do this alone. ?? Stand with us. Take action.
