The Magic of Design Feeling... I recently joined the newly opened Ned’s Club in DC and stepped into their exquisite ‘library bar’ room (pictured below). It felt magical. The space was thoughtful and intentional, yet it had a certain mystery. It felt warm and inviting, luxurious yet inspiring. I couldn’t quite pinpoint why it worked so well, but I knew I loved it. That experience captures the essence of great design—the kind that goes beyond what you see and connects with how you FEEL. It’s what I call the “je ne sais quoi” of design, and at The Well Home, we make it a priority in every project we take on. ?? Whether it’s a wellness space for a luxury home, a personalized wellness retreat for a hospitality venue, or even a wellness-driven office space, we design environments that evoke emotion and enrich lives. For me, design starts with a question: "How does this space need to feel?" ?? Many subscribe to the idea that “form follows function,” which is important. But I’ve found that meaningful design doesn’t stop there. I believe, “if form follows function, then function must follow feeling.” ??(our design ethos pictured below) We begin by envisioning the experience a space should offer—whether that’s serenity for a home retreat, energy for a creative workspace, or inspiration for a hospitality setting. Once the desired feeling is clear, we then reverse engineer the design. Every decision—from how sunlight filters into the room to the textures underfoot—is intentional and rooted in serving that emotion. Only once the function aligns with the feeling do we move to aesthetics, ensuring the final design is as visually stunning as it is emotionally resonant. This layered approach of feeling, function, and then form drives everything we do at The Well Home. ?? It’s not about just creating beautiful spaces. It’s about designing places that elevate daily life, promote well-being, and deliver magical, unforgettable moments.
