Today is International Day of Happiness! Remember the happy moment when you reached a goal? Who was the first person you called so you could celebrate with them? Life (the happy and the hard parts) was not made to be lived alone, and our experiences and successes are made so much richer by the people we share them with. For formerly incarcerated individuals, having a strong support system can be the difference between a successful reentry and recidivism. That's why The Way Back provides 1:1 reentry support, pairing each client with a caring specialist to share both the challenging and happy moments along the way. See the difference a friend can make: https://bit.ly/40AFpq0 #InternationalDayofHappiness #happiness #secondchances

March is Women’s History Month, and today The Way Back recognizes several women who have shaped criminal justice reform, reentry services, and advocacy for second chances. -- DeAnna Hoskins - President and CEO of JustLeadershipUSA, an organization focused on criminal justice reform and reducing mass incarceration. --Sister Helen Prejean - A prominent anti-death penalty activist, Sister Helen is best known for her work against the death penalty and her advocacy for inmates on death row. --Susan Burton - After her own struggles with addiction and incarceration, Susan Burton founded A New Way of Life Reentry Project, which provides housing, resources, and support for women. --Kim Kardashian- Known for her high-profile advocacy in criminal justice reform, Kim Kardashian has worked on bringing attention to cases of individuals serving unjust sentences. This month is an opportunity to highlight their contributions and share stories of resilience and leadership—historical figures or women in our community who are making a difference. Which extraordinary women are you celebrating? Drop a comment. > #WomensHistoryMonth #Reentry #CriminalJustice

It's National Social Work Month! Shoutout to The Way Back's dedicated staff for the difference they make in our clients' lives. Here's a quote from our client Audra: "Words cannot begin to describe what an amazing job my case manager has done working with me. She goes above and beyond in everything she does! She is very good at her job because she cares so much. It is evident that this is way more than just a job to her. It’s a passion! "I am deeply grateful for everything she has done for me and to have her on my team. She wasn’t just my case manager, but I would also now like to call her, friend! I love her and I cannot say enough good things about her! I am so thankful to her for being there during one of the most trying times in my life. May God Bless this sweet woman!" #NationalSocialWorkMonth #Reentry #SocialWork

March is National Social Work Month, and we proudly celebrate The Way Back's outcomes! Here's what our client Ronald has to say: "The Way Back provided me with moral support, advice and resources to overcome the hardships of reentry. They helped me get my ID, vision, dental, second chance jobs, and bus passes to help go to job interviews. A big one for me was that they provided my steel-toed shoes that were required for work, and I couldn’t afford. Clothes also. This is a well-run, much needed resource. They are actively making a difference in reducing recidivism." Thank you to our dedicated staff, volunteers, and donors who help make these outcomes possible. #NationalSocialWorkMonth #reentry #hope

To address this important issue, The Way Back provides reentry services and support for previously incarcerated individuals, helping our clients maintain a 6% average recidivism rate, well below the state average rate of 19%. “I have to get to Dallas.” Michael’s eyes snapped open as the alarm clock’s insistent beeping rolled him out of bed. It was four AM, not even light outside, but that didn’t matter. Star Transit was coming to take him downtown, and Michael refused to be late. Not this time. Michael is one of The Way Back's clients, and he recently shared his story of reentry, recovery, family reconciliation, and all the obstacles he has overcome so far. He provides a first-hand perspective on the challenges of reentry and the power of reentry support to help individuals win. Did you ever notice how a team of tiny ants can move relatively huge obstacles? Working and volunteering at The Way Back is like that. Inside the organization, we affectionately refer to our team as "small and mighty." It's amazing what a few passionate, dedicated, hard-working people can accomplish in pursuit of a worthy cause. Because of our people, the systems and processes we built, and the case management program we have in place, we can help our clients overcome seemingly impossible obstacles and move from crisis to thriving. Addiction is a mountain-sized obstacle that often prevents newly released citizens from thriving in life after reentry. How can formerly incarcerated people break free from addiction and transform their lives? In north Texas, we are witnessing victories because of opportunities offered by Judge Francis and the entire 4C SAFPF Staff. Every month we proudly celebrate our clients who graduate from the SAFPF program. We are so grateful for the SAFPF team and the positive outcomes of this program! #SAFPF #reentry #addiction
