Navigating the ups and downs of neurodiversity for a more inclusive workplace.

关于我们

The Wavy Brain is an ADHD Coaching and Neurodiversity Advisory practice. As a coach, consider me your thought partner and collaborator in navigating life with ADHD. If your ADHD is affecting your personal development, focus, or follow-through, I can offer support. Together, we can identify what you need and desire to live your most fulfilling, authentic life. Then, we’ll define clear, actionable strategies to help you get there. I’m not a therapist, but I can help you think about the right questions to ask at your next appointment. I specialize in working with adults - executives, creatives, entrepreneurs, and those in life transition who are looking to dive into self-discovery and understanding. I also work with young adults in life transitions looking for guidance on where to start mapping out their life plans in or post-college. As a neurodiversity advisor, I work with companies to encourage education, collaboration, and employee support around neurodiversity within their core company values and broader DEI strategy. I aim to reframe neurodiversity as an untapped and inexpensive resource that every human should know about and harness - for better workplace communication, collaboration, and joy in life.

7 Types of Rest You Actually Need. (most people think rest is just about sleep). But your body and mind need different types of recovery. Here's what science tells us about complete restoration: 1/ Mental Rest ? A racing mind kills decision quality. ? Take screen-free breaks between tasks for 5 minutes. ? Brain dump your thoughts into your phone's notes. 2/ Creative Rest ? Innovation dies when you're depleted. ? Take tech-free walks after long Zoom calls. ? Find beauty in your environment (art, nature, music). 3/ Social Rest ? Even virtual meetings drain your social battery. ? Block 2 hours weekly for zero human interaction. ? Set phone to DND an hour before bed. 4/ Sensory Rest ? Overwhelmed senses = poor focus. ? Take breaks where you close your eyes. ? Use noise-canceling headphones (even without music). 5/ Emotional Rest ? Suppressed feelings lead to resentment. ? "Let me think about it" is a complete answer. ? Write to understand and name your feelings. 6/ Spiritual Rest ? Purpose drives performance. ? Practice 2-minute daily meditation. ? Do one small act of kindness daily. 7/ Physical Rest Your body repairs and rebuilds during sleep. ? Get to bed 30 minutes earlier than usual. ? Mix passive rest (sleep) with active rest (light stretching). Burnout doesn’t create greatness. Rest does. Which type of rest do you need most right now? ?? Share this with someone who needs permission to rest. ?? Follow me Dr. Neetu Johnson M.D.????,for daily posts on mental health and personal development.

  • Thank you Jess Meredith, for this! Isn't it amazing the very simple things companies can do to make steps towards neuroinclusivity?? Content like yours will help us flip the narrative that these efforts require expensive, large-scale change...we can all make small steps toward inclusivity. ????

8 signs your company meetings are neuroinclusive. And how to make them happen. For many of us, meetings take up a large part of our day. So if your organisation intends to be neuroinclusive, it's vital that your meetings are. Let's look at how. 1. Include a clear purpose and agenda. - Communicate a clear purpose and agenda before the meeting, and again as it starts. - Avoid "quick catch ups" and be clear about the intention. 2. Cameras on is optional. - State the preference at the beginning of the meeting but always let people know it's a choice. - Don't judge people for needing to have their cameras off but also be considerate of those who need to lip read (in this case, you could try asking people that choose to have their cameras off to turn them on when they're speaking. 3. Attendees are not expected to sit still. - People are able to move to accommodate their own sensory and learning needs by fidgeting, standing, moving around and more. - And no one is judged for doing so. 4. The meeting is kept on time and on track. - If you need to run over, acknowledge and communicate that it's going to over-run (and allow people to leave if they need to). - If you find the meeting is going off track and it's a worthwhile conversation, acknowledge it and ensure people understand why this is happening. 5. There are small breaks between meetings. - Try avoiding the typical 30 or 60 minute meetings, and opt for 25 or 50 minutes instead. 6. Unwritten meeting norms are communicated. - For example, tell attendees if the expectation is for them to close their laptops. And share how you would like them to ask questions and contribute i.e. using the chat function or raising a hand. (these are to give examples of meeting norms and not to suggest that this is already a requirement of every meeting) 7. Attendees can input outside of the meeting. - Give an option to ask questions and contribute after the meeting (or even before). - Or share materials in advance so people can come fully prepared and able to ask questions and contribute. 8. The meeting ends with a clear wrap up and next steps. - Don't overlook this vital step! - And include actions, and owners for those actions. What would you add? ?? Repost to share with your network. ??Follow Jess Meredith for more. ?? Like this content? You might like my free newsletter - sign up here: https://lnkd.in/ewPUVvvX

Executive Coach, Trainer, and Supervisor Specialising in Neurodiversity

Coaching in the UK is an unregulated industry. Anyone can say they are an ADHD Coach and offer their services without any training, qualifications, or insurance. Which is scary. I have had a few clients show up recently having had unhelpful, or even damaging experiences with unqualified coaches. So how do you know that your ADHD Coach is going to help you, or if they are someone who is just cashing in? Here’s my 6-Point Checklist to choosing an ADHD Coach.
