Last week, María Fernanda (Mafe) Cobaleda-Yglesias, our Vice President, was a panelist in the WTS Puget Sound's Women in Leadership Panel at FareStart Seattle, which in her words was an “exhilarating experience”. Mafe also shared that: “engaging with trailblazing women who are shattering stereotypes was truly inspiring.” Key takeaways: ??Leadership isn’t one-size-fits-all, so it’s important to know the differences and embrace them. ??Stay ahead of the curve with digital transformation and utilize AI and the opportunities it provides. ??Advocate for yourself in the same way you would for others and be your own leader. #whorunstheworld #empoweringwomen #womenintransportation ????????

?? Say hi to our newest Senior Project Manager, Nanda Guajardo ?? We’re lucky enough to have worked with Nanda throughout the years and when we saw how incredible she is at managing timelines and building relationships, we couldn’t wait to make it official and add her to the team. Nanda has over 25 years’ experience putting her organizational skills, attention to detail, and creativity to work managing environmental outreach, public involvement, and behavior change projects. And she’s also the go-to recycling ?? expert for her family and friends! Glad to have you on board, Nanda. ????

TVA stands proud in recognition of Black History this month and throughout the year. The best way to show support is to #spendlikeitmatters. And a great way to do this is with the Buy Black card. It was created by Intentionalist to help invest our spending into local Black communities by saving you 20% at participating Greater Seattle Black-owned businesses. It includes loads of businesses too, like coffee shops, hair salons, restaurants, bakeries, breweries, and more! So this #BlackHistoryMonth, #SpendLikeItMatters and grab a card. https://lnkd.in/gWarCmig

We recently got the whole team together for our first in-person collaboration of 2025 and the energy, passion, and excitement in the room was incredible. We brainstormed, we laughed, we talked financial integrity, and even did some restorative yoga with our resident yogi (Thanks, Caoilfhionn!), and we all left feeling inspired and ready to do some amazing work together. Watch this space. ?

Last week, Amalia was a guest speaker at the UW American Marketing Association and University of Washington Diversity in Marketing Mixer 2025 for Foster School of Business students. The purpose of the event was to share insights on diverse career paths in marketing and empower students to connect with each other and embrace new perspectives. Thanks for the invite! ??

In our last #Wholedamnpie episode for a little while, Amalia chats with Ruchika T. Malhotra. She’s a keynote speaker, inclusion strategist, and the bestselling author of Inclusion on Purpose—with a new book coming out fall 2025 that you won’t want to miss! Amalia and Ruchika speak about individuals being made up of a multitude of identities, battling the underestimations of others, and how western feminism hasn’t given us that promised liberation. Ruchika also shares her many experiences of having her name deliberately mispronounced and being ignored by coworkers due to the way she looks. In her words: “it took me decades to reclaim agency and connection over my own name, which tells this beautiful story of a heritage and all this meaning and is so powerful. https://hubs.li/Q035fnVN0

"“When you’re a woman of color in leadership, why wouldn't you have an identity crisis when the standard for you, even in the position of power that you are in, is different from your white co-workers and colleagues. You have to spend time and emotional labor to advocate to people why you are even here in the first place.” Qurat Ul Ain is an immigrant, an asylum seeker, and a leader in the legal fight for women's rights across the country. Listen as her and Amalia chat about her work at Legal Voice, the many challenges and sacrifices you face as a refugee in the US, feeling the need to show up as a “model brown person”, and so much more!
