As we mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, it’s crucial to highlight that climate change disproportionately affects vulnerable communities—especially women. Climate-induced displacement, food insecurity, and loss of livelihood all heighten the risks of violence and inequality faced by women globally. More companies are recognizing that climate justice is not just about environmental sustainability—it's about social equity. Women in underserved communities are often on the frontlines of climate change, yet they have the least resources to adapt. To address this, businesses are starting to integrate climate justice into their social impact strategies. Here’s how some companies are driving change: ?? Supporting green jobs for women in underserved communities, empowering them with skills in sustainable industries. ??? Creating climate-resilient infrastructure in areas most affected by extreme weather, ensuring that communities, especially women, have better access to clean water, shelter, and safety. ?? Partnering with organizations to improve climate education and awareness for women, helping them become leaders in the fight for sustainability and resilience. By aligning their social impact strategies with climate action, businesses can drive change where it’s needed most—supporting both the planet and vulnerable communities. #InternationalDayForTheEliminationOfViolenceAgainstWomen #ClimateJustice #SocialEquity #CorporateResponsibility #Sustainability #HumanRights #ESG

As companies ramp up investments in sustainability-related technology, one thing is clear: AI is seen as a game-changer. A new survey from IBM reveals that while nearly 9 in 10 business leaders are planning to increase their sustainability tech investments over the next year, only half feel confident about their ability to track progress due to data gaps. Excitingly, AI is viewed as a major ally in achieving sustainability goals, with 90% of executives believing it’ll have a positive impact. However, less than 50% are actively using AI for this purpose—leaving plenty of room for growth. As companies look to integrate more tech, improving data management and closing the implementation gap will be key to using technology to reach sustainability goals. (And of course, addressing the energy and emissions increase from the use of AI will need to be built into a company’s sustainability strategy). Is your company incorporating or planning to incorporate AI in your sustainability operations? #Sustainability #AI #TechForGood #ESG #ClimateAction #DataDriven https://lnkd.in/evcbxs3Z

As regulations around environmental risk continue to evolve and sustainability teams feel constrained over limited resources, there’s an increasing emphasis on disclosures over broader sustainability efforts. Regulations, like the EU’s CSRD and the California Climate Accountability Package, highlight the financial and operational risks that climate change poses to businesses. However, focusing on climate risk doesn’t negate the importance of making progress on larger sustainability goals—in fact, it reinforces it. Climate risk forces companies to integrate sustainability more deeply into their strategies because it highlights the direct impacts climate change can have on business operations, profitability, and long-term viability. By addressing risks such as supply chain disruptions, regulatory changes, and physical impacts of climate events, companies are prompted to make sustainability a core part of their decision-making. This makes sustainability not just a goal, but a critical component of risk mitigation and resilience, driving lasting impact and business success. How are you aligning climate risk and sustainability in your organization’s strategy? Reach out to us if you need an extended team to help with disclosures and improve your sustainability performance. #Climaterisk #Sustainability #Corporateresponsibility #Climatedisclosure

More corporate foundations and giving teams are recognizing that addressing environmental issues goes hand-in-hand with their social impact strategies. While there’s a lot companies can do to become more sustainable, there will always be limits to how much a business can reduce the environmental impacts of its operations. This is where social impact teams can help fill gaps by designing environmental giving strategies and partnerships with nonprofits that address their company’s material environmental impacts. This trend aligns with broader corporate goals to combine ESG with profitability, as seen in companies that are successfully integrating both social and environmental dimensions into their core strategies. Businesses that prioritize sustainability alongside social responsibility are gaining competitive advantages in the market while also contributing to lasting environmental solutions. By aligning their social impact efforts with their environmental footprint, companies can find meaningful ways to create positive change where operational shifts aren't possible. How is your company addressing environmental challenges through its social impact strategy? ?? #CorporateResponsibility #SocialImpact #EnvironmentalSustainability #CorporateGiving #Sustainability

As the first wave of companies prepare for their sustainability disclosures under the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) has outlined three key areas of focus. These priorities are essential for ensuring that your company’s reporting is aligned with evolving regulations . 1?? Materiality Matters: Conducting a robust double materiality analysis is crucial. ESMA emphasizes that companies must clearly disclose their methodology for identifying key sustainability impacts, risks, and opportunities. This process should include stakeholder consultations and a thorough assessment of relevant data points. 2?? Consistent Scope and Structure: Sustainability statements should match the scope of your company’s financial statements and follow the ESRS reporting structure. Make sure to include disclosures on your value chain to provide a comprehensive view of your operations. 3?? EU Taxonomy Alignment: Ensure your company adheres to the EU Taxonomy requirements, including clear templates for reporting and a full analysis of alignment with environmental objectives. Is your company ready to meet these expectations? Staying ahead of these regulatory requirements will not only ensure compliance but also strengthen trust with your stakeholders and investors. Start preparing today by aligning your company’s strategy with these priorities. Our team is ready to help you understand your company’s CSRD readiness, develop a plan to close gaps, and work alongside your team to help you implement.
