In honor of National Suicide Prevention week we joined AGC, HCC, CCA, NUCA, IECRM, and many AEC companies to raise money, support, and awareness for suicide prevention. National Suicide Prevention Week, observed in early September, is dedicated to raising awareness about suicide prevention, educating communities about mental health, and providing resources for those in need. It's a time to emphasize the importance of open conversations, recognizing warning signs, and supporting those struggling with mental health challenges. By fostering understanding and reducing stigma, we can encourage individuals to seek help and promote a culture of support. The "Cornhole for the Soul" event was opportunity to come together across different associations for a common purpose of supporting VitalCog, a local suicide prevention training partner from the Johnson Depression Center at Anschutz Medical Campus. Together, we’ve raised funds to support essential suicide prevention trainings in the construction industry. Whether it's race day or every day construction, Colorado Barricade Co. is always on duty! We had the privilege of spending a day with the dedicated team at Colorado Barricade, capturing the vital role they play in keeping not just our roads, but also our construction sites and events safe. Our day started early at their bustling warehouse, a hub filled with rows of every sign and barricade you can imagine. From there, we hit the road with the crew as they expertly set up traffic control for the Colfax Marathon—an iconic event along the nation's longest continuous street. Their attention to detail and commitment to safety were on full display as we followed them past the Capitol and through downtown Denver. But the day didn’t end there. We also caught up with another Colorado Barricade team working on the massive 16th Street Mall project in collaboration with PCL Construction. This project, like everything Colorado Barricade touches, is a testament to their hard work and dedication. Everywhere we went, their team's efforts were a reminder of the essential role they play in ensuring safety in our community. Today, we honor the incredible contributions of American workers and reflect on the history of the labor movement that fought for fair wages, safe working conditions, and reasonable hours. Labor Day is a celebration of the hard work, dedication, and achievements of workers who have built and shaped our country. A shining example of this spirit can be seen in the ongoing revitalization of the 16th Street Mall in downtown Denver. This project is vital to our city, enhancing one of our most beloved public spaces and ensuring it remains a vibrant hub for work, leisure, and tourism. Highlights of the 16th Street Mall project willinclude: - Improved Pedestrian Safety: Replacing the existing granite paver system with one that drains more effectively and offers greater surface friction. - Enhanced Mobility and Space: Moving transit lanes to the center of the Mall and creating wider pedestrian walkways and new zones for leisure, commerce, and entertainment. - Expanded Greenery: Expanding and diversifying the Mall’s tree canopy. - Cultural Preservation: Honoring the Mall’s iconic original design by I.M. Pei and Associates, and Olin. - New Artistic Elements: Adding exciting new art installations to draw people to the corridor. These photos, captured from a height, show not only the hard-working laborers but also the everyday Denverites going to and from their downtown offices. Recently, we had the chance to work with an amazing client who had a very specific vision: capturing their team in-action indoors while showcasing the stunning view from their office windows during a bright sunny day.?? To pull this off, we got a little creative by using multiple exposures to snap one photo of the team; Lit with strobes of the collaborating team inside, and another to showcase the stunning outdoor view. Then, with a touch of Photoshop finesse, we seamlessly blended these images together. The result? A cohesive and balanced shot imagined by our client.
