Reflecting on my recent 9-mile hike at Chatfield State Park, which included a 1,200 ft elevation gain, I noticed many parallels to project management. Both activities require thorough planning and preparation. Just as I carefully mapped out my trail and packed the right gear, successful project management involves setting clear goals, anticipating challenges, and staying organized. Each step of the hike, from navigating tough terrains to enjoying scenic views, mirrored the phases of a project—facing obstacles, making progress, and finally reaching the desired outcome. Here’s to embracing the journey, whether on a trail or in a Zoom meeting. What recent challenge have you navigated with careful planning and preparation? Let’s discuss! #ProjectManagement #OutdoorLeadership #Hiking #NatureAndWork #Colorado #Latina

Ready for an adventure? Here's my first time ever solo camping! Yes, I have camped in groups, but never solo. A bit of (healthy) fear comes with this adventure and going solo. Tackling this trip was exciting and nervous, and I did it! Just like project management, camping requires a solid plan, preparation for the unexpected, and organization. The experience was a masterclass in these skills. From setting up my campsite to ensuring I had all the necessary gear, the parallels between camping and managing a project became clear. I had to pay close attention to detail, prepare thoroughly, and adapt as needed—just like in my daily work as a project manager. Swipe through to see my working setup station and the beautiful sunset that made it all worthwhile. What’s a challenge you’ve recently overcome? How did you manage it? Share your stories below! #SoloCamping #ProjectManagement #NatureAndTech #Adventure #Denver #Latina

Why Project Management? I typically ask anyone I chat with about their transitioning journeys this question. Considering it's not always sunshine and roses, I always like to hear why anyone would choose to do this for a living. There are a number of reasons: - More flexibility - Better pay opportunities - Helping others get things done - A pathway into senior leadership - A chance to work on something exciting - Opportunity to work with decision makers For me, it was 2 things 1?? To get away from monotonous work. 2?? The potential for continuous learning. Knowing your "why," will come in handy when you face tough situations in the role. It grounds you and reminds you why you chose this path in the first place. So, I'd like to know your "why"? Let's share and inspire each other! #ProjectManagement #CareerTransition #Leadership #ContinuousLearning #Motivation #ProfessionalGrowth

As I mentioned yesterday, Carmy from The Bear is on his journey, and it got me thinking about my own. Here are some of my non-negotiables that have been essential, especially when starting out. It was a tough journey initially, but these principles kept me grounded and have been helpful in my business journey. What are your non-negotiables in your professional life? Let's inspire each other—share yours below! #FreelancerLife #BusinessOwner #NonNegotiables #Latina #ProjectManager

Two summers ago, I visited White Sands National Park in Alamogordo, New Mexico, during a time of major transitions. I had just sold my condo on the Southside of Chicago, my home for nearly a decade, and Chicago is my Home, HOME. I was also pivoting into full-time project management for my business. The unknowns were daunting, but I knew this was my path. Two years later, I am now living (very happily) in Denver, and I've completed countless web design projects, helped dozens of solopreneurs with their projects, and turned creative ideas into successful ventures. To all the creatives out there facing tough times, those struggles are real, and I've been there. Stay strong and keep moving forward. You've got this. #ProjectManagement #WhiteSands #Latina #Solopreneurs #Creatives #WomenInBusiness #RemoteWork

I'm a Chicago gal, so of course, I am closely watching season 3 of The Bear. Hearing Carmy talk about the "Non-Negotiables" for his restaurant got me thinking about the standards we set in our own work. As a project manager and business owner, I know how crucial it is to have clear boundaries and priorities. I also know how off the rails a project or idea can get when those are not set in place. What are your non-negotiables in your profession? Drop your must-haves and deal-breakers in the comments! Tomorrow, I'll share my non-negotiables as a freelancer and business owner. Let’s start the conversation and see what drives us! #TheBear #NonNegotiables #Freelancer #BusinessOwner #ProjectManagement #Latina
