Hello. My name is Angela Johnson Sutherland and I am known to some as "the baby whisperer",? but to most I am "The Third Parent". My love for children began at the early age of eleven when I started babysitting my cousins during the summer school breaks. Both my parents were teachers so I guess you could say it was in my genes. By the time I made it to college, I decided to study Business Management, thus ignoring my true calling which is caring for children. After college I worked in this field for about two years. That was all the time it took for the walls to start closing in on me and my love for playing with children every day to start calling my name. So, I traded in the business suits and office space for scrubs and the playground. Yes, I went back to reclaim my first love, children. I have worked with children in various ways over the past 39 years in areas such as Newborn Care Specialist, Preschool Teacher, Baby Sign Language Instructor,?Post Partum Doula, New Parent Coach,?Home Daycare Owner, Nanny/Babysitter, and Temporary Legal Guardian to?19 military families. Along the way, I went back to school and obtained a degree in Early Childhood Education and certification in Special Education. Children are my passion and my calling. I have learned throughout the years?that the child care field is not just about the children but caring for the family as a whole. Out of all the many roles I've taken on, I love working with newborns, single or multiple births. Helping new parents bond with their children and providing them with techniques to make all of their lives easier is my goal.?I've been asked on many occasions to?clone myself and to help new nannies transition into their role as part of the family. Sharing my strengths and professional experiences?with other nannies and babysitters so they too can become "top notch", gives me great pleasure. For these reasons I have?created The Third Parent Academy.
