I recently finished up my 3rd and final Co-Op rotation with American Bridge Company! I am so thankful for the opportunity to have worked in their Operations, Estimating, and Engineering departments over the past year and a half. From hands on experience in the field to being given the chance to help plan and problem solve large scale projects in their corporate office, I am extremely grateful for everything that the wonderful people at AB have taught me.

Over the last three months, I had the privilege of interning at Lactalis American Group. During my time there, I worked as the sustainable packaging engineer intern. I gained experience collecting and interpreting sustainability data and providing recommendations for future packaging projects. I supported reviewing and updating packaging dielines. Through weighing, measuring, and inspecting packaging, I compared the impact competitors’ packaging has on the environment to the packaging used by Lactalis Heritage Dairy. Finally, I participated in an intern innovation challenge, winning first place with my team. I had an incredible experience working and learning from Andrew Cashen and Jonathan Hemink. I am very thankful to have such a meaningful internship, and I look forward to applying the knowledge and tools I acquired to my future.

Last week wrapped up my amazing summer internship at Duquesne Light Company. During this internship, I had the privilege of working with the Civil Engineering team on several impactful projects. One of my main projects consisted of designing and fabricating breaker beams for a breaker replacement project. Additionally, myself and the other engineering interns worked on a cross-collaborative project where we were tasked with interconnecting a large data center to the Duquesne Light grid. Thank you to Erin Bunda for organizing this internship experience, my mentor Chris Melnik and my team for their support and guidance. I’ll never forget my summer with Duquesne Light! ??????♀?

Earlier this summer I had the amazing oppurtunity to travel to South Africa through the University of Pittsburgh Swanson School of Engineering Global Experiences and Engagement office. Lead by Steven Abramowitch and Yetunde Olaore, this program focuses on how South Africa's rich history had affected its engineering overtime. This trip truly reminded me of the most important part of engineering -- the communities we get to serve with our work. Thank you to all the businesses who opened up their doors to us, the students at University of Johannesburg and Cape Peninsula University of Technology for answering my never ending questions, and to EDU Africa for an amazing program.

This week, I had the amazing opportunity to travel to the Mars Petcare Headquarters in Franklin, TN for my Internship Onboarding Experience with Mars! I would like to thank the Mars Early Talent Team for putting together this incredible event. Without them, I would not have been able to meet so many new colleagues, gain insight into the company, and explore Downtown Nashville! I can’t wait to fully start my summer at the Hackettstown plant tomorrow! #ProudlyMarsIntern #TomorrowStartsToday

Recently, I had the opportunity to travel to South Korea through the University of Pittsburgh Swanson School of Engineering Plus3 program. This immersive experience was designed to enhance my understanding of smart systems, while simultaneously develop my cultural understanding of Korean society. Throughout the program, I engaged in multiple academic and company visits, toured historical sites, and participated in a diverse array of cultural activities. The cumulative trip project involved designing a company which implemented technology to enhance the user experience. This enriching journey broadened my global perspectives and I look forward to applying these insights in my future endeavors.

Mechanical Engineer at Westinghouse Electric Company

I am proud to announce that I graduated from the University of Pittsburgh Swanson School of Engineering with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and a minor in Economics, graduating summa cum laude with a 3.95 GPA. During my time at Pitt, I was involved with various academic clubs, but experienced the most personal growth in organizations such as Theta Tau Nu Delta Chapter and Reformed University Fellowship (RUF). RUF drew me closer to God and enriched my relationships beyond solely engineering. ? I would like to thank my family and friends for their unwavering support. I would also like to acknowledge my engineering teachers and professors, both in high school and college. Specifically, I would like to acknowledge two of my high school engineering teachers, Mr. David Bailey and Mr. Ryan Siniawski who ignited my passion for engineering in high school. I would also like to thank my Pitt professors Dr. David Schmidt and Dr. Matthew Barry for guiding me through my curiosities in mechanical engineering. With their leadership, I was able to explore complex concepts outside of the standard curriculum such as applied simulation and computational modeling. Lastly, I wish to deeply thank Dr. David V.P. Sanchez, PhD for mentoring me through all of college’s unique challenges. Dr. Sanchez’s wisdom allowed me to develop personally while navigating through many difficult obstacles. These individuals spent countless hours listening, advising and just being available during late nights and on weekends. I will remain forever grateful for their continuous support. ? I recently had a wonderful opportunity to return to my alma mater, South Park Senior High School, to present and speak to current students about engineering at Pitt, internships, co-ops, and life at college. It was thrilling to witness high school students engaged in and captivated by STEM. I’m honored to be able to guide them in understanding engineering as a career choice from a Pitt graduates’ perspective. ? I will begin my next chapter as a full-time Mechanical Engineer at Westinghouse Electric Company in Cranberry, PA in the reactor vessel internals group. It is an honor and privilege to work for such a renowned and distinguished Pittsburgh company. I am ecstatic to see what my future holds! ? Hail to Pitt!
