The mission of The Sweater Project is: To generate income for Afghan families through yarn sales and knitting of sweaters. The finished warm sweaters are gifted to Afghanistan’s most vulnerable children. Everything we do is about helping vulnerable Afghans. The Sweater Project is a humanitarian initiative continuing in Afghanistan.? All monies raised for The Sweater Project, both in the US and internationally, are administered by Zaanha Fund, a not-for-profit registered in the United States. The Sweater Project is a non-for-profit initiative generating income for Afghan women and families and warmth to Afghanistan’s poorest children. Each $25 sweater you buy helps to support women at home and clothe a destitute child. We estimate each sweater helps to support 25 people. Working with a local NGO partner of many years' standing, we buy yarn from Afghan merchants and shopkeepers and pay women and girls to knit sweaters at home for destitute children.
