'Severance' is done, so what do you watch next? The season 2 finale has aired, so now you may be looking for something to fill the void until the next season. Luckily, there are plenty of other big-budget sci-fi thrillers that bring the same mix of corporate dystopia, paranoia, and high-concept storytelling. Whether you want more sinister workplace intrigue, mind-bending sci-fi, or a world where you just know something’s off, these four shows will scratch that “Severance” itch. https://lnkd.in/eumY-WFq

Apple TV+ continues to struggle with profitability, reportedly losing $1 billion every year. While major players like Netflix, Disney+, and Max have had profitable quarters, Apple TV+ remains far from reaching that goal. To address these losses, the streamer has slashed its content budget by $500 million, reducing its annual spend to $5 billion, which is significantly lower than Netflix's projected $18 billion content budget for 2025. Unlike its competitors, Apple TV+ does not offer an ad-supported tier, leaving potential revenue on the table. While Apple TV+ isn't central to Apple's profit strategy, given the company's focus on hardware and other subscription services, the mounting losses are likely to prompt further changes. Price hikes have already been implemented multiple times, and an ad tier could be on the horizon as the service looks for ways to boost revenue and reduce losses. What are your thoughts on the future of Apple TV+? Will we see a shift in its strategy soon? #Streaming #AppleTVPlus #Profitability #MediaIndustry #StreamingServices https://lnkd.in/eiKtBXEi

  • The ad-supported streaming shift: Is it the future of entertainment? Streaming services have long been synonymous with ad-free viewing. But as the industry grapples with rising costs, the introduction of ads to on-demand platforms is becoming the new norm. According to Antenna’s “State of Subscriptions 2024” survey, ad-supported plans now make up 45% of all streaming subscriptions in the U.S. — a sharp increase from 36% last year. What’s even more striking? Over half of all new subscriptions in 2024 (57%) were for ad-supported tiers, reflecting a clear shift in consumer behavior. While many viewers remain frustrated by this transition, the growing price of ad-free subscriptions has made cheaper, ad-supported options a more attractive choice. Apple TV+ is the only major streaming player without an ad-supported plan, but don’t be surprised if that changes soon. As the streaming wars heat up, the trend toward ad-supported subscriptions looks like it’s here to stay. Will other services follow suit, or will ad-free experiences make a comeback? Time will tell, but for now, viewers are embracing the compromise between cost and content.

The beauty of streaming? The freedom to cancel and resubscribe whenever you want, with no contracts tying you down. While cord-cutters have mastered the art of rotating between services to keep costs low, new data from?Antenna’s 2024 State of Subscriptions?reveals some interesting trends for streaming platforms, especially when it comes to retaining customers. ???Did you know? - 32% of streaming service additions in 2024 were from viewers who had canceled and then returned. - 45% of those who cancel end up resubscribing within a year, with 25% coming back within just 3 months! With this behavior in mind, the?net churn rate?for services drops to just 2.8%, compared to the gross 5% without factoring in those returning customers. It’s a clear sign that viewers are jumping between platforms, rather than leaving for good. So, while customer retention will always be top of mind for streamers,?the key takeaway here?is that the door is far from closed when a subscriber cancels. With the right content and strategy, winning back those who've left is very much achievable.

  • It’s a historic year for professional baseball. Opening Day 2025 will take place on Tuesday, March 18 when the?Los Angeles Dodgers?and?Chicago Cubs?meet for a two-game series in Japan. This will be the earliest scheduled Opening Day in league history, although most MLB clubs will see a more traditional start date of Thursday, March 27. With that in mind, The Streamable wants to ensure that every fan knows the cheapest way to stream their favorite team’s games during the 2025 season. The vast majority of MLB games aren’t played on national networks like?ESPN,?FS1, or?TBS; rather, they play on regional sports channels that deliver games to audiences in the home markets of the clubs in question. These regional sports networks (RSNs) aren’t distributed across every streaming service, so we’ll break down the cheapest ways to stream each and every MLB team in the article below.
