Do you know the most affordable and flexible way to attend our concerts? Concert Membership is your pass to unlimited concerts through the entire season for just one, automatic, monthly charge. The New York Times just featured our revolutionary Concert Membership. In posing the question “What If Orchestras Were More Like Netflix?” Joshua Barone sums it up: “you pay a monthly membership fee to your local symphony orchestra that entitles you to attend however much you’d like. As with a gym or a streaming service, some people may go often; some, not at all. Regardless, the orchestra receives steady revenue, and you have full control of your calendar, with the ability to make plans even the day of a performance.” Check out the full article! https://bit.ly/4gvGjLM

Announcing the newest member of our orchestra, bassoonist Demetra Alikakos! Demetra has appeared with the Houston Symphony, Houston Grand Opera Orchestra, Grant Park Festival Orchestra and has performed as a guest principal bassoonist with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra. Now living in St. Paul, she enjoys taking care of her plants, crocheting and exploring the city. “I’m beyond excited and honored to be joining The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra as its second bassoonist. What do we mean when we say we’re “musician-led”? It’s simple: our musicians lead the SPCO’s artistry — from curating concerts and repertoire to choosing collaborators, all while leading unconducted performances and rehearsals. As a part of this unique, democratic model, orchestra members are empowered to develop programs that showcase their own musical interests, curating and hosting concerts as Creative Leads where they get to share their distinct passions directly with our audience. This week, Principal Horn James Ferree leads Haydn’s Surprise Symphony — a program he developed and will host from the stage, adding one-of-a-kind touches to the concert experience. “This is a program about surprises, wrong notes, and composers behaving badly,” he shared. “The orchestra is having a lot of fun with the music, you might even say we are ‘whistling while we work’…”
