The School of Hospitality Business at Michigan State University has launched the careers of thousands of leaders in hospitality and service professions and transformed the landscape of hospitality education. Founded in 1927, we are hailed as the original hospitality business school and rank among the top hospitality programs in the nation. A Midwest icon, The School of Hospitality Business and its faculty and students share a remarkable work ethic and land-grant values that take the best thinking in the world, make it practical, and apply the rewards of outstanding higher education in the public realm that is the business of hospitality. Our longstanding philosophy of relationship building and connectivity means our students, alumni, and faculty are all part of an ongoing, influential network that has mentored, empowered, assisted, and influenced generations who have chosen the path of hospitality. ??Incredibly proud, congratulations on a well-deserved award!
Last week, I had the incredible opportunity to present at the 2025 International CHRIE Eta Sigma Delta Undergraduate Research Symposium in Tampa, Florida. Alongside Ben Kim and Yongwoo Nam, we shared the research we have been working on titled "Enhancing Workforce Readiness in the Hospitality Industry: A Gender-Based Study of Hospitality Business Students’ Internship Experiences." Our research paper was honored with the Meritorious Paper Award, and I am excited to see how the implications of our findings shape the future of the hospitality industry. I am grateful for this incredible experience and would like to thank Dr. MiRan Kim, Dr. Hala Sun, and Troy Walker for their support and guidance throughout this research journey!

Last month, I had the amazing opportunity to attend the Americas Lodging Investment Summit (ALIS) 2025 on behalf of The School of Hospitality Business at MSU and MSU Real Estate Investment Club as a student ambassador in Los Angeles. I want to extend my gratitude to Jim Anhut for making these opportunities accessible to MSU students, Jonathon Zink for leading the student ambassador program, and Lena Loeffler for coordinating the fantastic MSU reception! As a student ambassadors, we assisted with the execution of the conference while simultaneously networking with our peers - industry professionals and students alike. Otherwise, ALIS hosted panels and speakers composed of executives and visionaries that gave valuable insight on hospitality industry trends, investment landscapes, and the future of hospitality development. Learning from these was invaluable. This was a rewarding experience, and I am beyond grateful for the opportunity to make connections, learn, and represent MSU.
