Public safety starts with fixing our supervision system. The First Step Act proved bipartisan efforts work – reducing recidivism and making our communities safer. In a recent Washington Examiner article, our very own CEO Jessica Jackson says, “Criminal justice reform has always been about public safety. It’s about the proven, effective ways to redirect people away from crime, away from the poor choices they made, and get people on a better path.” Let’s build on that success with more smart, effective federal legislation. It's time to transform the U.S. criminal justice system
关于我们
REFORM Alliance aims to transform probation and parole by changing laws, systems and culture to create real pathways to work and wellbeing. REFORM is bringing together business leaders, advocates, and bipartisan coalitions of policymakers on common-sense solutions to transform probation and parole, dramatically reduce the number of people needlessly trapped in the criminal justice system, and dramatically increase the number of people moving from supervision to work and wellbeing. Our vision is a justice system that holds people accountable and redirects back to work and wellbeing. Instead of keeping people trapped in a revolving door from probation/parole to prison — which costs taxpayers billions of dollars — we’re working to move people from the justice system into stability. Right now, people under probation or parole make up the vast majority of our criminal justice system, yet the issue has received relatively little attention. "

Our justice system is stuck in the past, and people are feeling the impact. Bryce Howard, a University of Indianapolis political science major, has always valued public safety. Now, he’s advocating for smart, modern reforms that will make everyone safer. It’s time to move beyond outdated policies and build a system that truly keeps communities safe. Join the movement. We're happy to partner with Odyssey House to help facilitate Restaurant Ready at Edgecombe with our partners National Restaurant Association and NY Restaurant Association. The program sets formerly incarcerated people up for success in the hospitality industry. Upon completing the program, participants receive industry-recognized certificates–including the critically important ServSafe Food Handlers certification–setting them up for success in the industry. Participants recently joined the team at Free Food Harlem, receiving training for how to work in a restaurant–everything from front-of-house management to working in the kitchen–and serving a three-course meal to the Harlem community. Special thanks to Matt Sherman and Chef Michael Lesser at Free Food Harlem, as well as their friends at Food for Soul, for partnering with us for this event. #REFORMAlliance #RestaurantReady #FairChanceHiring #CriminalJusticeReform

We need more honest conversations about the challenges in our probation and parole systems – and how we can improve them. Our Florida State Organizer, Tanaine Jenkins, recently joined ‘The Path Forward Podcast’ (2nd Opportunity) to share her story and highlight the work we do @REFORM. Watch the full interview. Here’s something public safety officers understand better than anyone: helping people on probation rebuild their lives is the BEST way to promote public safety. That’s why Don Baylor, the Director of Organizing at the National Coalition of Public Safety Officers, is a staunch supporter of Virginia’s HB 2252 and SB 936. Virginia’s probation officers want to prevent crime. But too often, they’re buried under excessive caseloads. These bills would change that by directing resources to where they’re most needed and giving people on probation a real shot and improving their lives. #REFORMAlliance #VALeg #VAPol #HB2252 #SB936 #ProbationReform #CriminalJusticeReform

Probation officers have a tough job: to keep us safe. These bills would help them do that. Rich Goszka of the Virginia Police Benevolent Association understands this well. That’s why he’s lifting his voice in support of HB 2252 and SB 936 – probation incentives legislation that would empower frontline probation officers across the Commonwealth to do their jobs more effectively. Public safety is the name of the game. By lightening caseloads and giving people on probation incentives to improve themselves and their communities, HB 2252 and SB 936 will make all of us safer, freer, and more prosperous. #REFORMAlliance #VALeg #VAPol #HB2252 #SB936 #ProbationReform #CriminalJusticeReform

Virginia's HB 2252 and SB 936 are game-changers for our probation system – that’s why law enforcement leaders like Richmond County Commonwealth's Attorney Libby Trible have joined us in supporting them. These reforms offer a win-win solution: reducing overwhelming caseloads for our overworked probation officers while creating meaningful paths to rehabilitation for those in the system. #REFORMAlliance #VALeg #VAPol #HB2252 #SB936 #ProbationReform #CriminalJusticeReform
