关于我们
The Reading League (TRL) is a national education nonprofit led by educators and reading experts dedicated to promoting knowledge to re-imagine the culture of literacy education and accelerate the global movement toward reading instruction rooted in science. The purpose of The Reading League is to increase knowledge of science-based approaches to teach reading as well as research that demystifies how people learn to benefit the lives of millions of students. We train and support educators and school leaders. By extension, we also serve parents, specialists, and researchers. We believe all children deserve to learn to read and all teachers can learn to teach them.

Every year on March 20, people across the globe celebrate the art of storytelling on #WorldStorytellingDay. This year’s theme is “Deep Water.” ?? Storytelling takes us deep—carrying knowledge, history, and identity across generations. In the classroom, oral storytelling builds language comprehension, vocabulary, and background knowledge, bridging spoken and written language. Honoring cultural stories and traditions helps students see themselves in literacy instruction while expanding their understanding of others. Let’s celebrate the deep waters of knowledge shared through the past, present, and future. #DeepWater #OralTradition #CulturallyResponsiveTeaching

We are grateful for Maria Murray, Ph.D.’s leadership as we work together to drive change in literacy education. In a Q&A on leadership, Maria reflects on The Reading League’s growth, the challenges of leading a mission-driven organization, and why addressing hard truths is key to progress. Read her interview: https://lnkd.in/dkJCw-RD #ItTakesALeague
In today's Conversation on #Leadership, Maria Murray, Ph.D., founder and CEO, talks about leadership challenges along The Reading League's journey from her kitchen table to a national organization with chapters in 40 states. The league is focused on changing the way children and adults are taught to read, based on brain science and research across many disciplines. A $9 million gift from philanthropist Pleasant Rowland expanded the nonprofit's reach and ambition. "We’ve been so blessed with passionate people, and everyone lives this mission here like crazy," Murray says. syracuse.com Advance Media New York https://lnkd.in/e4WfrG_F

WOW! Check out these Zoom screenshot smiles of #TRLSummit2025 panelists meeting this week. We are working #BehindTheScenes to identify areas of consensus and critique, and reach agreement on what educators and stakeholders have been debating. This is rehearsed and planned, not off the cuff. TRL ensures that respectful dialogue on the science of reading benefits those who attend. In these meetings, we have been successfully clarifying areas where there have been (sometimes public) disagreements about the Simple View of Reading, word recognition, language comprehension, and reading comprehension. It's been an honor to witness such camaraderie (and Linnea Ehri’s dog and Susan Brady’s cat)! You have to witness it, too - join us in Chicago April 22-23! Hurry...register soon as this always sells out! https://lnkd.in/ez_qGJ8R

Last week, Dr. Maria Murray received The Reading League Alabama's Legacy Award, honoring her service and impact on students and teachers across the nation. The award presentation marked the start of the chapter's Literacy Reimagined Conference, where Alabama educators, policymakers, and changemakers gathered to advance evidence-aligned literacy instruction across the state. We are grateful for the dedication our 40 chapters put forth every day to transform literacy in their communities! #TRLChaptersInAction #ItTakesALeague
Thank you to The Reading League - Alabama for awarding me this Legacy Award in honor of my service and impact on the lives of students and teachers. Thank you to all of the teachers and policy makers and others in Alabama who are making enormous strides to "Reimagine Literacy" - both at your conference with ALTA Alabama and in classrooms. Your work is amazing. Alabama is the only state in which 4th graders exceeded pre-pandemic scores - improving from 48th in reading to 33rd! The United States sees you! I hope New York State copies you! Sonya Yates, CALT
