关于我们

The Reading League (TRL) is a national education nonprofit led by educators and reading experts dedicated to promoting knowledge to re-imagine the culture of literacy education and accelerate the global movement toward reading instruction rooted in science. The purpose of The Reading League is to increase knowledge of science-based approaches to teach reading as well as research that demystifies how people learn to benefit the lives of millions of students. We train and support educators and school leaders. By extension, we also serve parents, specialists, and researchers. We believe all children deserve to learn to read and all teachers can learn to teach them.

"There's nothing more motivating than knowing how to read the words on the page." - Michelle Elia ?? "You are so much more relatable, so much more powerful when you can be yourself in the classroom." - Dr. Jasmine Rogers ?? "The simple view of reading is certainly old, but it's not outdated." - Dr. Wesley Hoover ?? Let us know in the comments what takeaways resonated with you!

?? Introducing The Reading League Summit Moderators and Their Panels At The Reading League Summit 2025, we’re excited to host insightful, research-driven panel discussions led by expert moderators in the field of reading science. The panel topics are designed to deepen understanding, clarify misconceptions, and highlight essential practices in literacy instruction. Meet our moderators and explore the engaging topics they'll discuss with expert panelists: 1?? José Viana, Ed.D. – Panel One: The Simple View of Reading as a Starting Point for Understanding Reading Development in All Learners ? Dr. Viana will moderate a panel on the Simple View of Reading, a foundational concept in the science of reading. Despite its prominence in many educators’ journeys, confusion and oversimplification of this equation remain common. 2?? Dr. Tiffany Hogan – Panel Two: Language Comprehension ? Language comprehension is a crucial and sometimes overlooked component in the science of reading. Moderated by Dr. Hogan, this panel will address misconceptions surrounding the instruction of language comprehension skills. 3?? Dr. Louisa Moats – Panel Three: Word Recognition ? With Dr. Moats leading, panelists will tackle word recognition—a component often seen as central to the science of reading, yet still misunderstood in application. This discussion will cover key research findings about word recognition and the internal representations of words in memory that underpin reading and spelling. 4?? Mitchell Brookins, Ph.D. – Panel Four: Reading Comprehension ? The ultimate goal of reading is comprehension, and moderator Dr. Brookins will lead panelists in exploring how to build meaningful, engaging literacy experiences. This discussion will cover crucial topics like background knowledge, strategy instruction, sentence-level comprehension, and text structure. Each panel will empower educators, researchers, and advocates with actionable insights that drive impactful, evidence-aligned reading instruction. Join us in Chicago, April 22-23, at #TRLSummit2025 for a deep dive into these essential topics that shape the future of literacy for all. ????
