?? The OOW 3000 Deck Training Record Book (TRB) is part of the requirements for the Officer of the Watch (Yachts) Certification – OOW 3000 (Y) ? You need to have the tasks and duties signed off by your Captain ???? to show that you have completed each one. ?? It must be submitted to the MCA for the NOE application and to the examiner when you sit your oral examination ???. ? We recommend that you take at least one year to complete the tasks in the TRB. ?? For those who might not know, PYA (The Professional Yachting Association) is the voice of professional yacht crew worldwide. It is a non-profit association run by yachting professionals, for yachting professionals, since 1991. With members from over 90 countries, its mission is to promote high standards of qualification, skills, and knowledge among professional yacht crew and across the yachting industry. All PYA members are entitled to the association's Membership Assistance Service (MAS)—a confidential support service offering practical assistance to members facing difficulties or challenges in their professional lives, including work-related issues. This service has handled over 1,500 cases, covering matters such as non-payment of salaries, unfair dismissal, contract disputes, working conditions, and non-compliance with the Seafarers’ Employment Agreement, successfully recovering numerous unpaid wages. Members can access this service at [email protected]—they are here to listen, help, and support. Among its other valuable services, the PYA Welfare Group empowers crew with knowledge to protect their rights, guiding them towards legal and professional assistance. This group is made up of industry professionals who volunteer their time to address the welfare needs of yacht crew. However, they are not registered counsellors, lawyers, or financial advisors, and any advice provided is without prejudice or promotion. The PYA also organises the annual Sea Changes Forum, which brings together a diverse group of stakeholders from across the yachting industry to tackle key issues, including training, welfare, safety, and new & upcoming regulations. Additionally, the PYA is launching the Onboard Safety Telegram group, providing a dedicated space where yacht crew, Captains, shoreside professionals, and safety experts can share knowledge, experiences, and concerns to help elevate safety standards. In response to growing safety challenges in yachting, this group aims to promote awareness, enhance training, and prevent onboard accidents by fostering collective expertise.
