Camp Pride Tree is finally here!??????? We’ll see you back in July!??

Dear The Pride Tree community, We have a bittersweet announcement to share with our community. After three and a half years of leading the organization, our Founder, Grant Frailich, will be embarking on an exciting new journey beginning in July. A former teacher, Grant was inspired to found The Pride Tree after realizing how few safe spaces existed for LGBTQ+ youth in Las Vegas. As an ally, Grant worked tirelessly to create Camp Pride Tree, in addition to countless other amazing community events including Pride parades, community cleanups and 30 Days of Pride programming. Under Grant's leadership, across three summers of Camp Pride Tree, we have been able to provide over 100 campers with a life-changing summer camp experience. We have awarded over $40,000 in camper scholarships and are proud to say that every single child who has requested a scholarship has been awarded one. As we move forward, The Pride Tree board remains committed to creating safe and engaging spaces for LGBTQ+ youth. Thank you to everyone involved in The Pride Tree community for your ongoing commitment to creating a world where LGBTQ+ youth and young adults can be their full authentic selves. Our final 2024 The Pride Tree Hall of Fame inductee is The LGBTQ Center of Southern Nevada!??????? The Center has partnered with us for multiple events throughout the years and we are excited they are hosting this year’s Camp Pride Tree kickoff. "The LGBTQ Center of Southern Nevada provides a welcoming space that empowers our community to thrive and we are proud to partner with The Pride Tree. LGBTQ youth need safe and affirming spaces. The Pride Tree is a great place for LGBTQ youth to learn, grow, and gather together. In addition to the youth services at The Center, our partnership with The Pride Tree provides more opportunity for LGBTQ youth to build community together." -The LGBTQ Center of Southern Nevada

Our second The Pride Tree Hall of Fame inductee is the one and only Penny Harvey! Penny plays a crucial role in planning programs for Camp Pride Tree every year. "As a sexuality researcher, queer parent, and seasoned professional in the summer camp industry for over a decade, I deeply support The Pride Tree. Summer camps are crucial for youth development, impacting socialization, [and] bond formation...However, traditional camps often reinforce gender and sexuality norms. The Pride Tree provides a vital, inclusive space where queer youth in Nevada can be themselves, fostering visibility and safety. Here, they can dance, dress, and express freely, embodying the true spirit of 'camp' in every joyous moment." - Penny Harvey
