POD Network is excited to be a sponsor of the Leading Academic Change National Survey 2.0, a collaborative project of Quantum Thinking and the University of Michigan - Center for Academic Innovation!
In 2015, the POD Network participated in the first National Survey co-led by Anne Keehn, Founder and CEO of Quantum Thinking, and the University of Maryland System’s William E. Kirwan Center for Academic Innovation, and funded through a grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation that analyzed the landscape of leading academic change. The results of that survey illuminated the vital role of teaching and learning centers as well as centers for academic innovation in accelerating teaching excellence and student success.
Meanwhile, the world of higher education has changed! In particular, the global pandemic brought significant changes in how institutions of higher education engage with instructors and students; springing up entirely new modalities overnight to support teaching and learning in this new environment. Interdisciplinary academic innovation leaders, including educational developers, were at the forefront of institutional leadership and direction to meet these new challenges for student success.
Motivated by the sense of urgency to understand the critical pedagogical challenges for student success – and to help all institutions meaningfully engage their faculty in innovating teaching practices – the Leading Academic Change Survey 2.0 was developed to gain new key insights on the continuing vital role of teaching and learning centers and centers for academic innovation in higher education.
Data from the survey will help to inform better leadership models, technology and support structures that leverage innovative approaches to teaching and student success.
Anne Keough Keehn, Founder and CEO of Quantum Thinking, is serving as Principal Investigator and Caitlin Hayward, PhD, Director of Research & Analytics at the Center for Academic Innovation, is serving as Co-Principal Investigator for this work.
The survey is now open and is calling on the following academic innovation leaders to participate:
? Leaders situated in schools/colleges who are charged with enabling academic innovation.?
? Directors of units/departments in higher education actively engaged with enabling academic innovation broadly, including advancing systemic changes in teaching and learning, leveraging novel technology, and broadening educational access.
We encourage academic innovation leaders in POD Network and beyond to share your insights and participate in the Leading Academic Change: National Survey 2.0.
