PAM: Preserve A Mom, because her well being matters. Promoting and advocating for black maternal mental wellness.
关于我们
The P.A.M Project is the vision of social entrepreneur and maternal mental health advocate Alicia James. After years of volunteering, advocating for and mentoring mothers in crisis, Ms. James discovered a void in the advocacy for black mothers and their mental health. Ms. James' beliefs were confirmed from research conducted and informal mom to shared stories. She was motivated to launch her vision of black maternal mental health and overal well being. The vision of The P.A.M Project is to empower black mothers of through the advocacy and promotion of mental health and maternal wellness, provided resources while addressing stigma of mental illness in the balck community. It's focus is to impact the lives of black mothers who have lost their own voices, forgotten their personal goals and aspirations and promote the value of personal well-being within parental well-being. One mom at a time changing mindsets and transforming their lives on their own terms. Self preservation through self awareness.

March 14th: Honoring Black Midwifery Day & the Legacy of Care Today, on Black Midwifery Day, we celebrate the powerful legacy of Black midwives—the healers, caregivers, and advocates who have protected and nurtured Black mothers and babies for generations. Their work is deeply rooted in tradition, resilience, and community, ensuring that Black families receive the dignified, culturally competent care they deserve. At The P.A.M. Project (Preserve A Mom), we honor Black midwives not just today, but every day, as we continue our mission to advocate for Black maternal wellness. Their role is critical in addressing birth disparities, reducing maternal mortality, and empowering Black mothers with informed choices and holistic care. Let’s uplift, support, and invest in Black midwifery—because every Black mom deserves safe, respectful, and empowering birth experiences. Tag a Black midwife or advocate making a difference! Let’s give them their flowers today. #BlackMidwiferyDay #CelebrateBlackMidwives #ThePAMProject #BlackMaternalHealth #MidwiferyCare #BirthJustice #preserveamom #selfpreservation #selfcare #Blackmotherhood

The PAM Project?_?Black Moms, caregivers, rest is your birthright. You have spent generations carrying, fixing, overcompensating, and proving yourselves in a world that was never designed to hold you with care. You are the backbone of your families, the nurturers of your communities, the ones who push forward even when you were exhausted.? And for what??To be praised for your resilience while your bodies, your minds, and your spirits run on empty???Your answer should be NO! Today, on #NATIONALDSAYOFRESTFORBLACKWOMEN,?PAM stands with other organizations across the USA in honoring Harriet Tubman — a Black woman who led with unshakable faith, courage, and determination.?She carried people to freedom while suffering from exhaustion, trauma, and relentless danger. Harriet Tubman understood what many like you, Black moms, caregivers who often forget — the urgency of REST, it's not a luxury.?Harriet knew when to move and when to be still, when to fight and when to retreat. Even in the midst of struggle, she understood that survival and rest had to coexist. ?REMEMBER: ? You are allowed to pause ? You are allowed to take up space without giving all of yourself away ? You are allowed to be soft, to breathe deeply, to say: "Not today." Because resting is not laziness. Resting is resistance. The world has conditioned you to believe that your rest must be earned, that you must first prove your worth, accomplish enough, be everything to everyone, and only then do you deserve a moment of peace.? You were born deserving. Let’s reclaim what has always been yours.? Turn off your phone.? Let the emails wait.? Let the dishes sit.? Wrap yourself in the kind of peace that does not require permission.? Take up rest the way you’ve been taught to take up struggle. ? Because a rested Black mother, caregiver is a revolutionary act! If you’re resting today, share what unplugging, resting rest looks like to you in the comments. Let’s hold each other accountable for choosing peace over productivity. Honoring Women’s Health & History: Prioritizing Black Maternal Wellness As we celebrate Women’s History Month, International Women's Day _ The PAM Project takes the stand to confront a critical issue—the health and well-being of Black mothers. Black women in the U.S. are nearly three times more likely to die from pregnancy-related complications than other mothers with chronic stress, systemic disparities, and lack of adequate care playing significant roles. Stress is more than an emotional burden—it’s a health risk. Long-term exposure to stress increases the likelihood of hypertension, cardiovascular disease, and preterm birth among Black mothers. Even as maternal death rates decline for other groups, Black women continue to face rising risks. The P.A.M. Project (Preserve A Mom) was founded as a social entrepreneurial vision and is deeply rooted in its founder's personal motherhood journey. PAM advocates for Black maternal wellness at every stage—from pregnancy to "empty nester" to retired grandmotherhood. Being a Black mother in a society that expects strengthen, lacking the balance in rest and resources is exhausting. For 2025, let’s commit to: ? Checking in on our mothers, sisters, aunties, and grandmothers. ? Encouraging Black moms to prioritize their health and well-being. ? Recognizing that while strength is admirable, care and support are essential. Self-preservation is not a luxury—it’s a daily necessity. Let’s redefine what it means to be healthy and happy with MORE intent, MORE care, and MORE wellness. Let's engage, connect with PAM: https://lnkd.in/ehpt6EEd ?? #BlackMaternalWellness #BlackWomensHealth #WomensHerstoryMonth #ThePAMProject #PreserveAMom #BlackMomsMatter #PAM #BlackMaternalHealth #InternationalWomensDay

?? Breaking the Silence: Maternal Mental Health & Stigma ?? Black mothers deserve safe spaces to talk about their mental health—without fear, without shame, without judgment. Yet, too often, we are told to “be strong” instead of being encouraged to seek help. ?? FACT: Maternal mental health struggles—like postpartum depression, anxiety, and stress—are COMMON and TREATABLE. ?? MYTH: Seeking help means you’re weak. The truth? Asking for support is one of the strongest things you can do for yourself and your family. This Women’s Health Month, let’s uplift, educate, and support Black moms in prioritizing their mental well-being. You are NOT alone, Sis. ?? ??? Let’s break the stigma together. Share your journey, tag a mama who needs encouragement, and remind yourself: Healing is your right. ?? ?Healing Starts with Understanding? Sis, what if your anger isn’t just anger? What if it’s misplaced grief? ?? Grief doesn’t always look like tears. Sometimes, it shows up as frustration with your kids, exhaustion from caregiving, or resentment towards the world for not seeing all that you carry. When we lose dreams, relationships, or even the version of ourselves we once knew, that loss needs space to be felt. At The PAM Project, we see you. We hold space for you. You don’t have to navigate this alone. Let’s talk about it, let’s heal together. ???
