Yesterday Team Opp Hub joined forces with our partners in the nonprofit and government sectors to share our work and advocate for change. We joined BASTA for an amazing panel discussion at Student Success Network about the importance of helping young people build networks, social capital, and community. Our Program Director, Eileen and participant Seani wowed the room by sharing strategies from our Young Adults Program as well as their brilliant insights on the power of building community. Our Farm Manager, Jesse testified at a City Council hearing about increasing access to fresh produce and creating more urban farm and community garden space in NYC with representatives from The Sylvia Center, Teens for Food Justice, New York Sun Works, and The Laurie M. Tisch Center for Food, Education & Policy Jesse shared his experience bringing hands-on STEM education to children and fresh produce to our community through The Learning Garden. A big thank you to Gale A. Brewer for supporting this work and advocacy!

We’re so excited for this Thursday’s panel at Student Success Network! Join us to hear from our Program Director, Eileen Level and one of our amazing Young Adults Program participants, Seani. See below for registration information.
What does it take for students to build strong, meaningful networks that support their futures? On November 14th, we’re diving into this critical question at Community Insights: Building Student Networks. Research shows that strong connections can boost college success, open career doors, and enhance emotional well-being. But for many young people—especially first-gen students—building those networks is difficult. In focus groups, college students shared their biggest concern: building a community to help navigate the shifts of adulthood. As a community of youth-serving professionals, let’s tackle this challenge together! Join us for: ? A panel featuring SSN members who do dedicated work in student network-building ? A deep dive into best practices and challenges ? Open discussion on how we can better support students We welcome perspectives from all roles in our Network! Let’s build student success—together. ??? This past Saturday, The Opportunity Hub hosted our first Career Fair, and it was an incredible experience! We had an amazing turnout and received fantastic feedback from both attendees and participants. Thank you to all the job seekers, employers, and volunteers who made the day so special. We were thrilled to see community members making connections with our employment and training partners, as well as representatives from the offices of Congressman Hakeem Jeffries?and Senator Roxanne Persaud. A big highlight of the day was seeing one of our Teen Central participants, who we helped with his job search and job readiness, at the event tabling for his new employer. Stay tuned for more from The Opportunity Hub!
