A few years ago, we quietly launched a pilot membership program to provide ongoing support for thought leaders who are changing who writes history. Over the past few months, we have been reimagining and enhancing The OpEd Project member experience. Today, we are excited to announce our new membership portal! Members have access to: ? Weekly “Ask a Journalist” office hours with our Editor-in-Residence ? Monthly Expert Talks with media thought leaders ? Video library of all past Expert Talks ? 25% credit towards our core and advanced workshops ? Quarterly Community Free Writes ? Special members-only events and resources If you are looking for advice and camaraderie around voice and impact, writing, pitching and speaking — and how to use what we know to build the world we want to live in — this was designed for you. Please join us in community so we can speak up for things that matter together: https://lnkd.in/eJvD9bKM

Changing who writes history. Celebrating diverse intelligence. Making the world smarter one voice at a time.
关于我们
The OpEd Project is a social venture and leadership organization, founded to change who writes history. We are a community of journalists, thought leaders, and change agents who actively share knowledge, resources, and connections across color, creed, class, sexuality, gender, ability, and beyond. Through our nationally-recognized curriculum, our team of journalist mentors, and through a portfolio of programs in partnership with leading institutions across the nation and the globe, we accelerate the ideas and impact of underrepresented voices, including women of all backgrounds. We have been covered by most major media. We have stunning results.

Looking forward to facilitating "Connection: Accelerating Ideas" next week with The OpEd Project! Hope to see some familiar faces from our previous "Write to Change the World" cohorts for this advanced workshop. (Added bonus: co-facilitator is our organization's founder, THE Katie Orenstein)
Looking to swap ideas and become smarter and more creative? Our advanced workshop is designed for just this. Over the course of two half-days, you’ll join a cohort of diverse peers with whom you’ll test hunches, generate and cross-pollinate new ideas, explore the principles of timing and timeliness, and do something amazing together in 15 minutes. Scholarships are available for those who would benefit. ?? March 27 & 28, 12:00 - 3:30 pm ET Register here: https://lnkd.in/eSC3SU62

I am thrilled to be selected as a 2025 Public Voices fellow with The OpEd Project. Thank you to Oak Foundation for their support as we work together to end child sexual exploitation and abuse. Last week's first convening was a great jumpstart to this year-long program, and I can't wait to work with the other fellows to get our ideas and expertise out there! #publicvoices #protectkidsonline #EndOSEAC

Every budget season, a small group of library commissioners and advocates try desperately to lobby the San Jose City Council to limit the amount of funding cut to our San José Public Library branches. With a mandate for all departments to cut costs by 12%, this year is no different. Yet, we are at a dangerous inflection point at the intersection of book bans and censorship under the umbrella of defunding access to education and knowledge. This piece argues that the San Jose City Council cannot cut anymore without devastating impacts to the infrastructure of San Jose’s economic and social well-being. Thank you to San José Spotlight for publishing my piece and to the The OpEd Project where I was a public voices fellow during their inaugural partnership with the National Black Child Development Institute for the training and guidance to get to this point. Here’s to many more! ??: https://lnkd.in/gHenbnsu cc: San José Public Library Foundation, IFPTE Local 21, AFL-CIO, AFSCME Local 101

Another standout immigration piece by former ICE prosecutor Veronica C. Was a pleasure to work with her via The OpEd Project on these urgent ideas. Veronica was tapped to appear on MSNBC and CNN just hours after it published! ????????????
In my newest opinion piece with The Guardian, I write about how eroding due process rights in immigration law does not make us safer. When immigration enforcement turns into propaganda, when neighbors and classmates become enforcers, and when families are pushed into the shadows—we are not safer. We are more divided, more fearful, and less free. We know these policies don’t work. Yet, history is repeating itself. The resurgence of Trump’s immigration agenda signals a dangerous return to failed strategies—ones that conflate civil violations with criminal threats and embolden vigilantes to police immigration status. Feeling very proud and honoured to be selected as a #PublicVoices Fellow of The OpEd Project in partnership with the Oak Foundation. Ours is the first cohort on the prevention of child sexual abuse, working together to change narratives and stories around this important issue.

Got a book in you? Join us with Michelle Herrera Mulligan, VP and Associate Publisher of Primero Sue?o Press (part of Simon & Schuster) to talk about what it takes to get a book contract (and what to avoid), and what it takes to publish groundbreaking books–fiction and nonfiction alike–that make the world a better place. A longtime The OpEd Project collaborator, Michelle has brought urgent new voices (including overwhelmingly women and people of color) to our bookshelves. ??
