Proud of our Unitarian Universalist Fund grants promoting social change! “In true Unitarian Universalist spirit, our 2024 grantees are focused on supporting people disproportionately affected by systemic racism, our justice system, and environmental harms, to make their voices heard and advance social justice for future generations of Long Islanders,” said Deborah Little, chair of the Long Island Unitarian Universalist Fund advisory committee. https://lnkd.in/eqrvPPNB

“These efforts that we support are led by people most affected by injustice and inequity, and that work will continue again. There are always challenges to that ideal.” Senior Program Director Sol Marie Alfonso Jones, spoke with Newsday Media Group about the shared vision of The New York Community Trust and its Long Island Unitarian Universalist Fund. Administrations change but our grantmaking will always work towards a thriving region for all New Yorkers. Our hearts go out to those affected by the Southern California wildfires. If you want to help relief efforts, giving to a community foundation is a great way to ensure your donation reaches local communities where it is needed most. Support long-term recovery by contributing to CalFund’s Wildfire Recovery Fund today. ??: https://lnkd.in/gPY-uGU3
It’s been a heartbreaking start to 2025, with over 80,000 residents evacuated, thousands of homes lost, and tragic fatalities in Southern California. We hope everyone is staying safe and alert. For status updates on the fires and evacuation information, please follow @lacountyfd for additional resources. If you are wondering how to help, you can make a difference in supporting recovery and future emergency preparedness by contributing to CCF’s Wildfire Recovery Fund. Using data from CalFire and the CDC’s Social Vulnerability Index, our focus is on reaching underserved communities to ensure every dollar goes where it’s needed most and no one is left behind. The Wildfire Recovery Fund provides life-saving support: safe housing, mental health care, medical aid, infrastructure rebuilding, emergency communication upgrades, financial assistance, firefighter safety gear, and more. The fund also offers labor law education and immigration services for low-wage workers, as well as health education for caregivers and day laborers. Learn more about the fund and donate on our site. Together, we will rebuild a resilient and healthy SoCal. https://lnkd.in/gNY4WPBJ

We are proud to be partners with Northwell Health Foundation to address the mental health needs of students on Long Island!
With pediatric mental health challenges on the rise, schools encounter various barriers while addressing students' mental health needs, including?limited resources and access to care. The Northwell Health School Mental Health Partnership was established to provide mental health support to students in local communities, extending beyond what individual school districts can achieve. This partnership currently serves more than 50 school districts in Nassau, Suffolk and Westchester - providing access to care to more than 250,000 students. ?? Thanks to the generosity of TD Bank and The New York Community Trust - Long Island, Northwell established the Behavioral Health Hub for Evaluation and Referral to Treatment ("The Hub”) which will serve as the partnership’s central coordinating center, allowing clinical staff to efficiently coordinate and deliver mental health services to students throughout the region. ??
