On Saturday February 10, the Morehouse Spelman Pre-Law Society had the honor of attending The Pardons Clinic hosted by The Georgia Justice Project in partnership with Jones Day! This workshop provided our members with the amazing opportunity to engage with clients to assist them with their Pardons application. The Georgia Justice Project works hard to represent and support individuals within the justice system along with creating different ways to reduce barriers to reentry. On Friday January 19, the Morehouse Spelman Pre-Law Society had the pleasure of taking a tour of the University of Georgia School of Law! We were given the fortunate opportunity to have a lunch and learn discussion with dean Xavier Brown along with three current law students who spoke on their experience. Members were able to learn more about UGA school of law, how to apply, and the culture of the campus. After discussions, we were guided by a Campus Ambassador on a personal tour of the entire law school building! Students were able to see lecture halls, the library, and meet current students. The students had a wonderful time and learned so much about what UGA Law has to offer!! MSPLS wants to extend a special thank you to Dean Xavier’s, Diana Dejesus , and Grace Mercer for helping us coordinate this fantastic trip. On Saturday October 21, the Morehouse Spelman Pre-Law Society attended the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Awareness Walk. With the posters created from our last event, we were able to cheer on and provide encouragement to all of the participants of the walk! On Thursday, October 5, the Morehouse Spelman Pre-Law Society hosted their Law School Symposium Panel!! Pepperdine School of Law, Columbia Law School, Emory Law School, University of Virginia School of Law, and William and Mary Law School came to talk to our students about their admissions process and answer any questions pertaining to law school and succeeding in a legal career! We were able to hear amazing and inspiring words from our keynote speaker, Chalak Richards, as she spoke to us about succeeding as black lawyers throughout society. On October 12, the Morehouse Spelman Pre-Law Society hosted a Zoom informational with Georgetown Law School. We learned so much about Georgetown law, their admissions process, and was given the incredible opportunity to speak to a member of the Georgetown Admissions team. We were even more fortunate to be able to speak to the Co-President of the Morehouse Spelman Pre-Law Society of the 2022-2023 school year and 1L student at Georgetown, Sophia Parker. We would like to thank all of the Spelman and Morehouse College students who attended our Mixer on September 22, 2023!
