??Request for Proposals: Join TMC and our members on the quest to embrace the next generation of civic technology! A few things we know are true: - Our movement’s long-term strategic success relies how we unite our shared values with data systems to measure, track, and socialize base-building strategies that work; - TMC’s collective strength and expertise, directed by the leadership and mission-critical programming of our members, means that our cooperative is the right place to centralize this effort to revolutionize the future of progressive organizing; - The platforms available today must evolve with our movement needs. TMC is committed to doing everything we can to support deep organizing and relationship-building through new tactics and agile frameworks that challenge our conventional wisdom about organizing. So we’re seeking bids from values-aligned organizations looking to collaborate on one of the most ambitious and timely initiatives we’ve ever taken on: embracing new voter contact/constituent relationship management (CRM) platforms—one or more!—and partnering with those designing new solutions for the infrastructure we need in 2025 and beyond. For full details on the requirements and submission process, please visit our website or see the attached PDF! If you fit the requirements listed, please submit your proposal by Mar 21, 2025. https://lnkd.in/ewDs2ZMR

Last week, TMC staff gathered in Atlanta for our All-Staff retreat—a chance to step away from our screens, ideate, and build community in person. ?? As a cooperative, we know that collaboration is our greatest strength, and this time together helped us strategize on how to better serve our members and the broader progressive movement in our work. From strengthening our infrastructure to deepening our support for grassroots organizing, every conversation reinforced that when we invest in each other, we build something bigger than any of us could alone. This is what collective power looks like. ?? ?? Want to be part of this movement? TMC members get access to cutting-edge data, technology, and strategy support—plus a community of 90+ organizations working to drive change at the local, state, and national levels. Learn more about membership and how to join us: https://lnkd.in/dUYQ3UDq Or, if you’re a technologist/civic tech vendor interested in putting your values to work, this is your reminder that the submission period for our next-gen CRM RFP closes in one week on March 28 at midnight ET. RFP Deadline Extension! Thank you to everyone who has spread the word about our search for partners in our quest to find next-gen voter contact CRMs! We're truly impressed by the caliber of folks who've already notified us of their intent to bid, but have also heard that a little more time to submit would help make even more submissions possible. In response, we've extended the proposal deadline by one week to March 28, 2025! If you were considering submitting a proposal but felt short on time, we hope this extension will give you the opportunity to participate in solving some of to our members' (and movement's) most pressing needs ?? https://lnkd.in/ewDs2ZMR

"We are stronger than [authoritarianism] because we are allied together. We must build for the future through collaboration, connection, and community toward long-term power-building. It is up to us to reject an autocratic regime with uninhibited, resilient defiance. TMC is going to be here to power every moment of that defiance." ????
It’s been a tough week so far. I hope you and yours are finding ways to connect and ground yourselves during this frightening time. The knowledge that this is what most of our country asked for burns like battery acid. While I want us all to breathe, think strategically, and ward against reactivity, this week, I am furious. I suspect you are too. This loss is rooted in decades of choices and avoidances in our two-party electoral process. It is going to take time to untie that Gordian knot to truly explain why our society is as it is today. The sting of that failure—in the face of all The Movement Cooperative members have done, for years, to prevent the reality we find ourselves in today—is overwhelming. No matter our righteous anger today, we won't give into despair in the face of overwhelming odds. Authoritarians use division, disinformation & despair to try to outlast resistance. We're stronger than that because we are allied together. We must build for the future through collaboration, connection & community toward long-term power-building. We must reject an autocratic regime with uninhibited, resilient defiance. TMC will be here to power that defiance. We need long-term solutions & infrastructure. Full stop. Many of you have devoted years of organizational & personal resources to the struggle of deep power-building and never gave up on it just because Biden defeated Trump in 2020. Experience tells us those closest to the needs of their neighbors & their support networks are capable of making the biggest differences in the lives of those around them. Those of us under direct threat, who are part of communities and families that the Trump administration demonizes and persecutes, have every right to be fearful, disgusted, and devastated. Yet, it is crucial that we put faith in one another, form firewalls around those who most need protection & dedicate ourselves to the long haul. For me & for TMC, the way forward is not just into the gauntlet, but through. Going forward, it is essential that we accept the hard truth that we—the Left—need to change. We lost & will continue to lose ground with the same voters our movement is meant to protect—unless we choose humility, learn & make concerted changes to how we work as a movement. Building a coalition to form an equitable multi-racial democracy that can withstand centuries of human failing cannot be done without fundamentally changing how we understand & enact solidarity and power. To that end, I caution you—implore you—to use this moment to learn, not just explain what happened. In the struggle to come, remember that the connections we build & the strategies we organize around together should be brave, disruptive & innovative. They should ask more of our imaginations & our ambitions because our only alternative is a descent into an autocracy bent on harming everything we care about. We cannot give up, we cannot despair, and we cannot be anything other than revolutionary. ??

This is, somehow, my first presidential election as The Movement Cooperative's CEO. It’s not exactly my first rodeo—before joining TMC as CEO, I spent many cycles on the trail both with candidates and TMC members. In fact, I realized this a.m. that my first volunteer shift was... *in the nineties*. ?? Since TMC began in 2017, I’ve seen its members grow their impact & organizing prowess because of the Cooperative's shared power. In October alone, our systems and users queried over 8,000 TB of data—to help put that staggering number in perspective, the Hubble telescope has generated 430 TB of data since 1990!??? ?? So far, members have made nearly 350 million contact attempts, canvassed over 27 million people, sent almost 160 million text messages, and made over 90 million phone calls to win tomorrow and protect our democracy. ????? I’m deeply aware of the systematic investments, multi-year organizing, cutting-edge programs, agile strategy, and unrivaled expertise that each of our members brings to the communities they serve. I’ve seen how TMC pours into our members and how our members pour back into TMC—when a seasoned data director takes time to answer a new organizer’s question about using the voter file, or an engineer drops a tip on writing more efficient code. Most especially, I see the hours of care, ingenuity, and persistence that TMC staff put into preventing problems before they occur. I watch how quickly they resolve bugs. Every effort they make to ensure our members have access to the best data sets and can depend on the most reliable warehouse. Each time they help a member field a more efficient canvas, spin up a last-minute phonebank, or reach out to community members more accurately. Every day they work alongside our marketplace of vendors who prioritize ensuring TMC members have access to the tools and resources they need to run record-breaking programs. More than ever, I’ve know that the community of practitioners who make up TMC is the force driving the progressive movement forward, in good times and bad. Collaboration, connection, and community are the keys to unlocking innovation movement-wide; they fuel the fight for our democracy and will ensure TMC continues to amplify the impact of our members across the progressive movement for the long haul, election year or not.??? I’m proud to be part of TMC, working alongside so many of you, at a critical time in our history. And our work isn’t over yet. I’m using these last days to outdo my best record in GOTV calls. We should all be on the phone, at the doors, or driving voters to the polls every minute of the next 48 hours. I hope you can also take some time to ensure we GOTV and bring home the win this year. ? TMC and Nonprofit Professional Employees Union are proud to jointly announce the finalization and signature of the first-ever collective bargaining agreement between TMC and the TMC Staff Union! Our new CBA is one of the most progressive in NPEU’s history. It enshrines TMC’s commitment to leading the progressive movement as a hub for technological innovation while living our values as a workplace where our workers can thrive and feel the material impact of how much we value their contributions to our movement. TMC exists at the intersection of technology, non-profit, and political industries. We manage the personal, professional, and political realities of elections and cycle culture and have felt the normalization in those industries of churn and burn for people, not just fundraising emails and texts. Contracts like ours—driven by the fierce love of organizers for one another, our TMC members, and the communities we serve—and others like it across the ecosystem are essential to the long-term health of the progressive movement. Please read the attached release for more details about the process that led us here and highlights from the CBA that we’re particularly excited about. Reaching this moment is all thanks to the TMC staff—past and present, union and management—who dedicated long hours and immense passion to the negotiation process. We know the contract is only the beginning of a new phase of our journey as an organization. We look forward to implementing the CBA alongside our employees and continuing to build TMC into the organization we know it can be. With pride, the TMC Staff Union is organized under the Nonprofit Professional Employees Union, NPEU - IFPTE Local 70, of the International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers.

One month ago, TMC and State Voices were honored to cohost the first-ever Changemaker Skills Camp in Atlanta, GA — and we had a blast! Here’s what one of our attendees had to say: "I'm so glad I got to come to this camp. So many intentional details y'all considered, like hotel recs that mentioned labor considerations, opportunities to clarify food preferences and pronouns. I always felt welcome and supported and was very well fed! Just getting to see folks in person was such an exciting opportunity. This was a super strategic time to hold this camp, excited for all the collaboration that will come from the connections made here, and excited to see what future camps bring!!" CSC 2024 brought together hundreds of activists and non-profit staff from across the country and across the movement, as well as over 60 trainers from more than a dozen organizations. From each attendee who brought their own deep skill sets and experiences, to our training partners at re:power, Generation Data, Change the Game Training, Arena, ProGeorgia, Donor Organizer Hub, Personified, and The Swell Collective, to our sponsors at GetThru, TargetSmart, NGP VAN, Open Field, and Catalist, we could not have brought together so many people from across the movement and the country without sincere dedication, collaboration, and belief. We’re looking forward to growing from the roots we planted during CSC and are already thinking about improvements we can make in the future! ??
