Welcome to the team, Ernest Comer III! Read on for his answers to our Q&A: What brings you to this work? My journey has always been fueled by a deep commitment to creating systems where people thrive — particularly Black leaders and organizations driving social change. I’m drawn to work that centers care, equity, and innovation because I know the power of collective impact and sustainable solutions. Joining Nafasi Fund allows me to continue that mission, amplifying voices that often go unheard and building capacity for transformative change. What are you passionate about? I’m passionate about wellness in leadership. I believe that when leaders are supported, nurtured, and empowered to lead authentically, they can create waves of impact that extend far beyond their immediate circles. My work is rooted in breaking cycles of burnout, cultivating joy, and fostering spaces where leaders can thrive and, in turn, uplift their communities. What inspires you about Nafasi Fund and the work happening at The Moriah Group? Nafasi Fund’s dedication to Black-led organizations and the well-being of Black leadership is revolutionary. The Moriah Group’s bold vision of investing in equity and capacity-building across communities inspires me daily. Together, these organizations represent a movement — a commitment to not just solving problems but transforming how we approach leadership, collaboration, and sustainability. I’m honored to be part of a team that doesn’t just dream about change but actively works to make it a reality. #NewHire #Communications #Director #NafasiFund #TheMoriahGroup #ThrivingYouth #ThrivingCommunities #FiscalSponsorship

When the opportunity arose for The Moriah Group to host the African Children’s Choir in 2024, and the date aligned perfectly with our Founder and CEO’s 50th birthday, the answer was an enthusiastic YES! Dr. Rhonda Tsoi-A-Fatt’s mother instilled in her the honorable tradition of giving back on ones birthday.? Through this effort, The Moriah Group, the hospitality of New Life Worship Center and our community were able to make a lasting impact. We contributed to the educational journey of 18 Ugandan children, supporting their access to primary school, high school, and college. Here’s to honoring the transformative power of giving back, and to all of you for being a part of it! Thriving Communities. Thriving Youth. #AfricanChildrensChoir #ThrivingCommunities #ThrivingYouth #TMG #Milestone

We had the privilege of hosting a workshop with the African Children’s Choir at The Academy for Academics and Arts Middle School yesterday! Their mission is to offer support to Africa’s children who are trapped in the cycle of poverty which aligns with our work in building thriving young people of color and their communities. It’s truly been a blessing to witness the Choir perform for the youth in our community. We hope to see you for tonight’s concert at the New Life Worship Center! Words like “individualistic,” “separate,” and “self” are core elements in Western models of healing. But centering hyper-individualism in our healing is not humanity affirming for people of color. Our healing is often most effective — and fulfilling — when we center our cultures, community, and connection in our restoration. In the second edition of the “Healing Our Healers” blog series, Dr. Rhonda Tsoi-A-Fatt — our Founder and CEO — asks us to share ideas about the ways we can heal youth of color, our communities, and ourselves.?
